Figo is a Chicago-based pet insurance provider that cover cats and dogs. Founded in 2012, Figo takes a very technology-centric approach to pet insurance, incorporating a cloud-based platform to manage all your medical records and relevant information.

The company offers plans that cap benefits at either $5,000 or $10,000 as well as an unlimited benefit plan.

Figo offers extremely generous coverage for the price. Its standard plan covers items that most high-level plans won't unless they are made available as costly add ons.

Figo is the only company we are aware of that has a 100% reimbursement option at their highest premium rate. The company unlimited coverage as an option. In addition, pet owners can add one of three PowerUps to their plan: Wellness, Veterinary Exam Fee Coverage, or the Extra Care Pack.

However, Figo is relatively new and doesn't match the long track record some of our other featured companies.

Figo offers three plan levels and all of them provide substantial coverage for the price compared to most other companies.

Figo's least expensive plan covers normal accidents and illnesses, but also things like prescriptions, hip dysplasia, alternative treatments, prosthetics, mobility devices, and treatment for behavioral problems.

Figo imposes no exclusions for hereditary or congenital conditions, or pre-existing conditions if they have been cured for 12 months.

Unlike some of our other top companies, Figo does not select unlimited coverage for you as a default. You can choose between $5,000, $10,000, and unlimited.

For complete peace of mind you may have to go with the high end plan to get the unlimited coverage, as advanced techniques and specialized treatments are costing more than ever before. Figo does not operate on a benefit schedule.

Figo covers all dogs and cats 8 weeks and older. There is no upper age limit, which is great as many other plans have one. There are also no breed restrictions.

Waiting periods for accidents and injuries is 1 days, and 14 days for illnesses. There is also a 6-month waiting period for problems associated with hip dysplasia and orthopedic, but the waiting period may be waived if your vet submits a form that certifies your pet has no pre-existing orthopedic conditions.

Figo offers multiple pet discount and a corporate group benefit plan. Discounts may vary by state.

Figo customers have exclusive access to the Figo Pet Cloud app, including features like a 24/7 Virtual Vet and easy mobile claim filing. No pet insurance company covers pre-existing conditions, but Figo is the only one who will help you identify those conditions at the start of your policy. If you don’t think you’ll get value out of pet insurance after your initial review, just cancel within 30 days of signing up for a full refund.

Figo's claims process is completely paperless and features fast and easy mobile claims with an average approval time of 2-5 days. Over 50% of claims are closed in 24 hours. Submit claims right through the Pet Cloud app by simply answering a few questions and sending a picture of the invoice. Evie, Figo’s AI chat assistant, will walk you through the process step by step. Once your claim has been submitted, their real-time claims tracker allows you to see exactly where your claim is in the process. Turnaround times are faster if you select direct deposit.

You can either take a picture of the bill with your phone and submit it via the cloud or uploaded it to your email client and send it that way. Turnaround times are faster than most if you select direct deposit.

I have had pet insurance for about 20 years for our dogs (different dogs over those years, of course). I've dealt with several different pet insurance companies. Absolutely no other company compares to the high standards of Figo. They review claims quickly and pay timely. They are truly amazing and I pray they stay around for many more years.

When my young kitty was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, Figo told me to simply forward all of her records and the veterinary invoices to them. They have the most intuitive app which makes submitting documents a breeze. I was able to take my cat and have her receive the best most thorough evaluation necessary. Figo reviewed my documents and issued a direct payment to my bank account in less than 10 days. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing that the veterinarian and I can make the best medical decisions for Kitty’s treatment going forward without the worry of mounting bills. I highly recommend everyone have pet insurance and my experience with Figo so far has been excellent.

Great insurance for your pet! I think this is one of the best companies out there. Quick claims process and great customer service. Just hope they do a plan soon that includes preventative.

I recently purchased pet insurance with Figo (after months of reaching all the companies out there) for my Labrador puppy! After about 6 weeks into the policy, he was diagnosed with a non cancerous tumor growing in his gums on his jaw bone! He had to have surgery to remove it! I couldn’t be more thankful for Figo, knowing I didn’t have to stress about the financial decision to make sure my puppy would be taken care of! The claim process was very easy and the claim people I talked to were so kind & helpful! I have and will continue to recommend Figo to all of my family & friends that have fur babies! 🐶

I had the sad experience of my dog being attacked by another dog and requiring multiple surgeries and medications. This meant filing a total of seven claims over a three week period. All of the claims were paid and closed by the time my dog was healed and had his stitches out, about three weeks later. The first claim, from the emergency visit, was paid within two weeks of when I filed it. The admin at my vet’s office was so surprised that I was all done with my insurance claims! She said that never happens for other people with other insurance! I’m so happy I went with Figo!

FIGO helped save my 10 month old puppy when she developed acute kidney failure. They paid all her claims within a week. Very easy process, people very nice and followed through on everything I needed!! Even asked how my dog was doing when I called😊

Figo Insurance has been a great investment. Nothing serious has gone wrong with my 2-year-old dog, but he has had some issues with giardia, ear infections, and a weird seizure-type spell at day care -- and everything has been covered. I have 90% coverage with a $200 deductible that includes vet exam fees. I have recommended Figo to friends and family members.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Figo. My dog got sick and had to have multiple tests and procedures, and they’ve processed every claim quickly and with no unnecessary pushback or hassle. Their digital platform makes it super easy to upload documents. Every time I’ve called, the wait time for costumer service has been short, and everyone’s been super helpful and friendly. Am glad I chose Figo over more old school companies. Would definitely recommend.
