Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Review of Choice Home Warranty: I've been a customer of Choice Home Warranty for two years, initially attracted by an appealing deal when I purchased my new house. The pricing seemed competitive, but unfortunately, the service has been deeply disappointing. A striking example of their inadequate service occurred during a severe summer heatwave. My main A/C unit failed, and despite the urgency, it took a week for Choice to send a contractor to merely assess the situation. This delay was just the beginning. I called to file a claim today. It took 5 minutes to do this with a friendly staff member. I should be getting an email soon, setting up my appointment for my hot water heater.

The service technician arrived 3 days earlier than we'd expected and we were thrilled. He was courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. He diagnosed the issue and was very thorough and happy to explain everything to me, along with how we would proceed from here. I am very pleased with the service provided and feel confident when all is done my dryer will run like new again.

The approval process is very poor. The tech has been out for diagnostic testing found the problem, and has been waiting 2 days now to get approval to fix my furnace when the temperature has fallen below 20 degrees. What away to handle a claim.

Signing Up for the warranty was easy. As soon as you click on the webite you will receive a phone call. Agent was pleasant and informative. I gave 4 stars because agent said she would send her name and contact number with the confirmation email. This was not the case.

The plumber has been very helpful in seeing the problem. however now we wait for Choice to decide. I hope this can be done in a timely manner. The one other time we had to work with Choice turned into a nightmare. Over a month and a half to get someone here to fix our refrigerator ICE MAKER. and at this point we don't want anyone from sears to come to our home. We had taken a day off work Sears never showed and never called!!!!! to say they weren't coming. and it's been nothing but frustrating. Month and a half out and we get a phone call saying they're on their way to our home. we were out of town. no one had ever called and given us an appointment date. truly... Read More

Very professional technician was working here. On this point he said we can use dishwasher, but this dishwasher needs to have additional repair: dishwasher needs to change electronic board and he promised to order this part and replace it as soon as it arrived.
