Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

So far, four claims I’ve filed totaling service of $15000 and they’ve only paid for one $100 job. That’s all. Terrible service when I call, have to fight with ten different people to even get answers let alone actual help in resolving the claims. Half of the techs they’ve hired have been rude and demanding and one asked to sign separate contracts that they aren’t liable to damages which he said he frequently damages things. I’ve now had three warranty companies and this is the worst of all three. From the service to the payouts

Quick in getting an technician scheduled, however their refusal to approve fixing the broken freezer internal drawer was insulting and reminds me of the movie "Rainmaker:" the company policy was refuse, refuse, refuse. The plastic drawer in the freezer drawer cracked and needs to be replace. I told Choice what was wrong when I filed my claim and the sent a tech. The tech asked them before he came if the drawer was covered and neither of us received an answer. The warranty policy states: Become inoperative due to normal wear and tear; andAre in place and in proper working order on the effective date of this home warranty contract. Yet they denied my claim per para section E number... Read More

Louise did an outstanding job, I will know more when LG comes out to fix the compressor, which is under warranty! However, Choice needs to refund my $195.00, for 3 techs that could not fix my toilet. This has been a complete rip off!

This being my first claim with Choice, I will be honest to tell you it was excellent because it was a simple work request, but since I didn't know how the process was with Choice, I called them directly and was disappointed by the less than interested agent, who was definitely rude and short. Somebody needs to train the person. That's why my rating is 4 points.

Takes to long to have someone to come for services call. Then I've had 3 different tech to show up to get the service money then never return to do the work. If someone else come along to do the work I have had request for additional services fee.

I was sad to learn that the leak was not covered because it wasn’t failure of mechanical equipment. Upon the vendor entering the house, without even looking at the problem, he was recommending an extended service plan with his company. I bought this policy for peace of mind And it said it covered roof leaks, and this is a small one indeed and I was given a price of $780 to fix it. I am going to have a meeting with my family who are pretty well informed about the trades and if this is the way it is going to be, I might have to cancel the policy And get the majority of my money back. I had a service man from choice once before, and he did a fine job fixing the dryer. But this is a... Read More
