Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Would recommend tech but Choice Home warranty took 6 weeks to get our air repaired. This is totally unacceptable. Was told to get our own technician and when we did the quote was denied. Took forever to get another tech and then to get approved for all the parts needed to repair. 6 weeks without air in July and August in the south. Not good

My garage doors were unsafe and needed repair. out of $1400 you only covered $195 plus the $75 fee. Not worth the money

Choice Warranty was quick to make a decision when they thought I didn't submit the documents that I submitted two days before their decision. Once I called and they realized the documents were submitted they are taking a long time to come up with approval. It' been over two weeks since the review with no decision. Would like to get my AC fixed, have been told if I have it fixed with their approval, I would have to stand the entire cost.

the communication was effective. The technician visit was ok. Although the equipment, the garbage disposal was put back to work, it needs changing, the blades are broken, therefore the food is not ground. We need a new garbage disposal that grinds the food. I will expect a new garbage disposal, please. I wil appreciate that very much. thank you G Aguilar

Two homes covered over 11 years. Very helpful and supportive! Over all a good investment! A secondary support item is the value of the support companies they send to evaluate the failed/problem system. We have found those companies helpful on many household issues

I have an oven that you can't fix so once again you want to replace it. OK. My stove/oven is 3,000.00. I was offered $400.00 I paid the $2600.00 for the warranty contract. I had to pay $85 for you to come out and once again not fix the problem. You won't even cover the tax for the new oven that needs to be replaced. I let everyone know what a rip off your service is.

We had a non working AC issue. The first technician signed up was no show at appointment time without any advance notice, and could not be reached by us nor the company. We were advised to raise a new claim and got another technician who resolved the issue in one visit. The company needs to manage their contractor base better

Their customer service is horrible. My water heater was installed 6 months ago and the pilot light will not stay on. Their warranty is only for one month. What new piece of equipment goes out after 1 month? They scheduled a technician who left me sitting for 5 hours and never showed. Then they scheduled a new technician and for absolutely no reason whatsoever they canceled that appointment so I had to call back and they needed to reopen a new claim. Kept asking me if I paid the technician. Not sure how I could have paid someone who never showed up. I don't believe I should have to pay again to have someone come out and fix the new water heater but they force you to pay another service fee.... Read More

The Communications between choice, the working contractor and the choice customer is awful. I made a claim thru choice and was told I would hear from repair company for an appointment, NO one called and the repair company made appointment without calling or emailing. The appointment was for a day I was out of town. I tried to call and change appointment, I found it impossible to talk to a customer care person, just a recording sending me in circles. All this caused me to wait 2 more week to have someone out and another week to get a part. Anyway why can’t you ever get a person to talk to. And WHY can’t a number be offered to talk with someone other than a useless AI machine.
