Home Warranty of America offers comprehensive home warranty plans that cover more than most other basic plans.

Although their annual premiums and call service fees are on the higher end, when compared to similar offers, the company does provide excellent additional coverage such as the GreenPlus option, which replaces old systems and appliances with high-efficiency models.

With extensive coverages, fitting prices, a flexible cancellation policy, and 24/7 claims processing, Home Warranty of America provides everything a discerning customer could wish for.

Coverage Options - 3.5 / 5

Home Warranty of America offers two plans, the Premier and Premier Plus, which include coverage for over 30 items traditionally not covered under basic home warranty plans.

The company also provides optional coverage for secondary appliances, saltwater equipment, and even primary and secondary pools or spas.

Besides offering a remarkably extensive coverage, HWA also has a GreenPlus plan that allows customers to replace their covered systems or appliances with Energy Star-qualified products.

This last option is available for $5.77 a month or $75 a year, which delivers excellent value, considering the amount of water and electricity customers can save using high-efficiency models.

Claims Processing - 3 / 5

Home Warranty of America charges different service fees for each plan, between $60-$100.

Though they have a standard 30-day waiting period before the coverage can begin, maintenance records aren't necessary to receive service.

HWA states they are not responsible for routine maintenance of systems, appliances, or components.

Clients who want those items to remain in working order will have to service themselves.

Two excellent things about this company is that they offer 24/7 claims processing and though they require authorization for contractors before providing services, these don't necessarily have to be from their network.

My AC stopped working on Sunday afternoon. I called in the claim and after giving all the info they assigned a local vendor to call me. I was called Monday at 8:00 am, a service tech arrived at 4:30, replaced the capacitor and the fan motor and ac was back on and working at 6:00 pm. Could not have asked for better service. Can't understand all the negative reviews I see. I have been insured with HWA for two years and will renew again

That worse warranty company, They are not about the customer, all they do is take your money, and the issue is never resolve, we have AC issues and in a matter of days we have spent close to 500, abd our AC is still leaking, I just completed a complaint to the BBB, they need to conduct a investigation, I'm tired if companies taking advantage of people, please stay away from them!!!!!!

Without a doubt the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in my 42 years of home ownership. All you need do is read BBB and all the other reviews as they speak the truth about this company. There needs to be a class action law suit filed against Home Warranty of America.

The level of incompetence, lack of professionalism, and genuine disregard for the customer is astounding. I've never had such a poor experience with customer service! The time it takes to file a claim and have an issue repaired is unacceptable and the majority of the contractors HWA works with are subpar at best. Save your money and go with American Home Shield.

This company has the worst customer service and follow through of any company. You cannot speak to a supervisor, nor to the same person you spoke with last time. This means that the first 5 minutes of your call are spent bringing the new person up to speed. Plus, if you complain at all, then you will get even worse service. This is the only company that I have been hung up on multiple times, and even told that they need to get to other, more important customers. I have a water heater that went out, their contractor was going to take a week to replace, and so they gave me approval to use my own plumber but now refuse to cover the cost. Their contractors do not respond in appropriate times... Read More

I am completely astonished that a company like this can or is allowed to stay in business. We have been without a refrigerator for 6 weeks now and still waiting. Very hard with 4 kids. First it took a week to send someone out and the company they sent has a 1 star rating. We then had to send in proof of our home inspection 3 different times. Another week lost. Then it took a week to get the approval for the parts to be ordered. After we finally got the approval to order the parts from HWA the company they selected tried to tell us that HWA was not going to cover all of the parts and that we need to pay them for the parts. Another week lost to get that cleared up. You would be much better... Read More

This company does not care about their customers. I have a claim open for an oven repair for the past 6 months and still my appliance is not working and they will not replace it. They claim they have no time limit to replace an appliance. This is NOT acceptable, they either need to finalize the repair or replace my appliance. I would not recommend them at all it's a waste of money!

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with! I'm still waiting for $179 since last August. They just sent me a check do to me last June. The electrician they just sent out two months ago still hasn't been paid I had to pay him $100 today. God knows if I'll ever get that money back My hot tub people won't deal with them anymore and they're really the only hot tub people in town. It's called some guy from 100 miles away to come look at my hot tub who had told me to do just the opposite of what the people who put it and told me to do. I paid for my own service person to come out and he had fixed with on 10 minutes. There a hot tub person told me I needed electrician. Nothing but... Read More
