Overall Rating: 4.8 / 5 (Excellent)

OneGuard is a well-established company that offers a premium product at a good price and serves customers in the states of Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. It has a significantly better than average reputation and offers services that many of its competitors do not, such as pest control, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, lawn care, and HVAC tune-ups. Given its location in some of the hotter parts of the United States, One Guard puts special emphasis on air conditioning service and repair while still offering a broad range of home warranty services.

OneGuard's menu of home warranty options is broader than that offered by traditional home warranty companies. Rather than only paying to fix or replace things that break or wear out, OneGuard offers preventive maintenance contracts that are designed to keep a house's systems, appliances, lawn, and windows in good condition. This makes the company an excellent choice for people in search of turn-key total home maintenance solutions.

Coverage Options - 5 / 5

In addition to providing coverage for the usual systems and appliances, OneGuard also provides services that aren't usually part of a home warranty package, such as pest control, window and carpet cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, lawn care, and system tune-ups.

The company's mid-range and premium plans include home security systems and monitoring. Consumers can customize their plans by adding coverage for additional appliances and systems and for items like automated sprinkler systems, pool spas, the main-line plumbing problems. This range of services is well above what is offered by many other home warranty companies.

Reputation - 5 / 5

OneGuard is accredited by the BBB and has an A+ rating. It also has numerous comments on the BBB site, over 80% of which are positive. This is very unusual in the home warranty industry, since as a whole, the business tends to attract sharply negative comments. There are over 130 complaints about OneGuard on file with the BBB, but these cover a three-year period. Further, it appears that the company is very responsive to both reviews and complaints, which is an encouraging sign. The company has no reviews or complaints on Trust Pilot.

OneGuard has been in business since 1979, making it one of the older-established home warranty companies.

On day 4 of no hot water. 2 plumbers and now they ask me to show my home imspection before they would send a electrician. Then said 4 business hours they will call but sorry its 4:50 so not till tomorrow. The plumbing company said it was fixed the 2nd day. It wasn't and I waited till 10:30pm and the guy said I'll call in the morning and didn't. so then they say noon-5pm the next day. then they come and say its a electric problem. I would not ever recommend one guard , not even to a enemy.

Caveat emptor!!!!! I had purchased a home warranty with Oneguard upon initially purchasing our home. "buyer beware" They slowly decrease what they cover, increase their deductibles, and nickle and dime you any way that they can. I am sure that they purchased the reviews that they have listed on this site. A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Basically you are paying for someone to find a contractor for you (same as thumbtack.com without knowing how good they are as they are hired by the warranty). They pay for as little as can be done as per their warranty agreement and forward the rest of the cost on to you. I recently had a AC tuneup take place (after being charged a sizable amount by... One guard is wasting my time and not yet fixed my refrigerator. On Thursday my freezer was not cooling. We called one guard on Friday morning and submitted a service request. They scheduled Flemmings appliance for diagnostics on Monday morning. By Monday, my refrigerator stopped cooling completely. The technician who came said the compressor is broken and needs to be replaced. He noted the serial and model number and said he will order one and someone will come to replace it in a couple of days. Later, there was no update. We followed up with one guard and they said someone from 7 star appliance will come for second diagnostics on Wednesday. I have 2 kids and have been eating outside food... Read More

My first call to OneGuard for my side by side freezer that was intermittently defrosting was on 9/26. They have sent 2 repair companies, 6 repair guys, supposedly "fixed" it twice, we waited 6 weeks for a part that was never ordered and then they said it was not needed. I have had to take time off work each time and have been without a freezer for 3 months, through the holidays!! Tech out again Wed, and now they say because the problem is intermittent, they can't fix it. The freezer cools and defrosts throughout the day so I can't keep anything in it. The repair guys have seen it and acknowledge it is happening. OneGuard says unless a service tech is here at the exact moment it stops... Read More

They contract with really awful service companies. They are also super stingy and will only do the bare minimum (e.g. replacing a little component rather than the whole unit) and in the meantime your warranty expires and then the real problems happen, magically a day or two after your warranty is expired. I also don't understand why I have to pay $70 just to get someone to come look at a problem on top of having the Warranty $$$ coverage fee. There should be a set number of 'free' visits and then if you call someone out more than that they start charging. This company is a total rip off and we have spent thousands of dollars this year in repairs and installations that OneGuard refused to... Read More

One Guard took over our Allied Policy sending a letter that nothing would change in the terms, however, as we have need to use the service, they have changed the coverage as follows: They only offer cash for appliances, at what they consider would be the cost, not covering like for like appliances. They don't even try to replace your appliance if you come from Allied. The cash offered is also at wholesale price, which consumers can't access. They do not honor the service console information provided on their website. When we tried to place 2 orders for kitchen appliance electric issues, the website said we would only have to pay for one service call since it was the same provider.... Read More

One Guard took over our policy with Allied. We tried to schedule a heater check (provided in Allied's contract) in September before the policy expiration but One Guard will not do it until October, which is after our policy expires. We do not plan to renew because the one AC check we had was done very poorly and we even paid for that service call. Two other repairs needed during our first year were not covered under the policy. If you're considering a home warranty policy, read it very carefully and plan on getting less than it says. I'm sorry we paid for the first year but we will not repeat the mistake.

Not impressed. Upon 3 months of purchasing a large home in Las Vegas one of the rooms was not getting air. Gold Medal service LLC was asked to come out and evaluate the problem which turned out to be the motor operating the damper which was in a closed position. The damper, as I understand it directs the air flow in this case to our upstairs office. Well, it was not covered. Seems like an important part to get the cold air where it needs to go. Gold Medal said they would do it for $500.00+!!! I asked the Customer Service Representative why it was not covered , and after a 7 minute hold he came on the line to say because, OneGuard decided not to cover that part. Not sure if this... My experience was terrible. After paying for this warranty for 4 years and only having them out for 3 or 4 minor repairs, my Air Conditioner went out. OneGuard sent a company out, Speedy AC, who wanted to add Freon. I was responsible for the cost of the Freon. So after paying $150 for Freon and $69 for the OneGuard fee, I still had no AC. I called and OneGuard sent Speedy back out. They replaced the capacitor on the AC and left. This still did not fix the problem so I called OneGuard back and asked if they could send a different company this time. They replied they could but only if I paid another $69 fee. I refused since I had already paid $219 and the AC was not working any... Read More

One of the worst companies to have for home warranty. Please avoid at all cost. When you need a service they will give all kinds of excuses. I am an existing customer of this company. I have been a customer for 6 years and have never asked for any major repairs, since all my equipment is new. When it came to servicing an A/C they just give poor excuses for declining it. The representatives are rude and hard to talk to. Will never be renewing the contract again. If there was a lesser star than 1 would have given that.
