Overall Rating: 4.8 / 5 (Excellent)

OneGuard is a well-established company that offers a premium product at a good price and serves customers in the states of Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. It has a significantly better than average reputation and offers services that many of its competitors do not, such as pest control, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, lawn care, and HVAC tune-ups. Given its location in some of the hotter parts of the United States, One Guard puts special emphasis on air conditioning service and repair while still offering a broad range of home warranty services.

OneGuard's menu of home warranty options is broader than that offered by traditional home warranty companies. Rather than only paying to fix or replace things that break or wear out, OneGuard offers preventive maintenance contracts that are designed to keep a house's systems, appliances, lawn, and windows in good condition. This makes the company an excellent choice for people in search of turn-key total home maintenance solutions.

Coverage Options - 5 / 5

In addition to providing coverage for the usual systems and appliances, OneGuard also provides services that aren't usually part of a home warranty package, such as pest control, window and carpet cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, lawn care, and system tune-ups.

The company's mid-range and premium plans include home security systems and monitoring. Consumers can customize their plans by adding coverage for additional appliances and systems and for items like automated sprinkler systems, pool spas, the main-line plumbing problems. This range of services is well above what is offered by many other home warranty companies.

Reputation - 5 / 5

OneGuard is accredited by the BBB and has an A+ rating. It also has numerous comments on the BBB site, over 80% of which are positive. This is very unusual in the home warranty industry, since as a whole, the business tends to attract sharply negative comments. There are over 130 complaints about OneGuard on file with the BBB, but these cover a three-year period. Further, it appears that the company is very responsive to both reviews and complaints, which is an encouraging sign. The company has no reviews or complaints on Trust Pilot.

OneGuard has been in business since 1979, making it one of the older-established home warranty companies.

We live in AZ so a/c is critical. We called for service in April, at which time they replaced our compressor. This required draining and replacing the Freon (which we paid high disposal and replacement fees as One Guard only covers a small portion. Now, 3 months later, our a/c went out again. We were told by the contractor that all the Freon leaked out due to bad pipes/tubing and we had a bad coil. Not sure why this wasn't discovered three months ago during service, but looks lie we will have to pay the Freon costs again to fill along with whatever else is not covered. We called for service on Monday, it is now Friday and we still don't have any information as to how long it will take to... Read More

I paid almost $700 for a One Guard Home Warranty. I never used it in a year. I had to sell my home after one year and THEY DO NOT even give you free coverage during the sale of your home. My year was up so I had to pay monthly for 2 months on their useless home warranty while I had my home on the market. THEN THEY CHARGED me $50.00 to cancel after the extended two months after a full year with them on a paid policy. I WOULD NEVER REPEAT this company as all they care about is getting your money. Period. They email you and ask if you want to pay for their air condition service, etc. WHAT? I ALREADY PAID ALMOST $700 FOR NOTHING and you would not cover me, like other companies do for free... BIG RIP-OFF!!!!!!!! OneGaurd was purchased as a 1yr insurance policy after our Condo purchase. Two month after move in, the A/C went out. OneGaurd was quick to send a repair person to troubleshoot the unit and reported that the A/C needed a new condenser coil. OneGaurd, no us, requested a second opinion that took 3 additional days to complete in 100 degree Houston weather. Still without A/C, the second opinion was the same as the first. The repair is a covered item by the policy, but yet a another week has passed, and the unit has not been repaired. OneGaurd is excellent at using STALL TACTICS and making excuses. Each time we call, which is daily, we get a different person that... Read More

Since One Guard has been bought out by American Home Sheild the service has been terrible! The contractors go out and fix one thing and then when they come back out they say its something else. They will nickel and dime you for every little thing when you could have bought a new appliance by now! FED Up!!

I took One Guard even though I was skeptical as it was a gift. I called to have my A/C checked in Arizona and they said that all the contractors they use are only responding to emergency calls. One Guard left me in the cold! My realtor suggested a contractor so One Guard was worthless for me as I did the legwork. What a scam.

DON’T USE ONEGUARD. The customer service people are nice on the phone but the repair people are terrible!! They show up without an appointment and then yell at you. They show up to fix one thing and break two other things in the process! They wear you down with their incompetence until you give up and pay out of pocket. I wasted so much time calling to complain, setting up appointment after appointment, waiting at home for OneGuard, not to mention tearing my hair out each time they left my kitchen in worse shape than they found it. Learn from my OneGuard misfortunes and DO NOT BUY A ONEGUARD HOME WARRANTY POLICY! The Details: This is a follow-up to my original OneGuard review last... Read More

I used to not be as skeptical about home warranties as we had good experience with a previous one, but OneGuard changed that for us. When our AC broke in 90 degree heat they sent someone out who did a "thorough" inspection, and that person concluded OneGuard wouldn't have to pay due to some dirty evaporator coils. This is one of their tricky clauses...and by that I mean there is no way a consumer could have prevented this. In our case we had done our due diligence in having a professional come out twice a year to maintain our unit, and according to the FOUR OTHER OPINIONS we got there is no way to know our evaporator coils had gotten dirty unless there was a problem with our system. So... Read More
