I will be shopping for a new Home Warranty company. I just had to file a complaint on Select Home Warranty with the Better Business Bureau. I have gone round and round with them now for 3 weeks trying to get a furnace repaired. It is very cold (15 degrees last night) and we have been without heat for 3 weeks. The service technician they sent out originally to find out why the pilot would not stay lit found the cause and has ordered the part. He is just waiting for the ok from Select Home Warranty to give him the OK. In the meantime, they have given me the run around asking for photos of the unit which I sent but they said they never received them. I sent them again. Same thing. Now they... Read More
I don't know how I could imagine having my house with out a Select Home Warranty contract. The peace of mind it gives me is so helpful. Whom I had an issue with an appliance(namely the dish washer), SHW came to my aid with minimal cost. I bought my home in 1975 a one floor ranch style home with an over 25 year old kitchen. Gladly with SHW they did repairs for me and I just pay a $75 claim fee.
As was the case before the SHW contractor the quickly arrived did a stand up job. Every bit of the job was efficient and left me with a good feeling. Our SHW plan came with our home and we will for sure renew it.
Setting the appointment was very easy online. The specialist called in a few hours to my cellphone. The scheduled appointment took less than a week and I had a window for 6-8 after work. I was called an hour before they got to my home and were very professional. They appeared to solve my problem in under an hour. Definitely glad with the service today.
The repair done was on my 2012 dryer. The technician who came out was here the following day from my first cal to SHW - Very quick!. The job required a new spinner but it was not in his disposal and had to be ordered. The tech gave me an appointment for 7 days later. He did come back with the new part as promised and I was pleased and understood the week delay.
My wife and I own 2 homes that are both covered in the same state with Select Home Warranty. I chose to be a customer of SHW 6 years ago because of how much coverage they supplied to my home including appliances. We have made repairs through their network on several occasions and have not had a negative response yet. Contractors have generally called me or my wife in 2 or 3 hours and were friendly on the phone and in person. They did repair work extremely professionally and I recommend SHW to anyone purchasing a home.
Recently the plumbing company came and fixed and overflowing bathtub in the second bedroom extension. The overflow was causing a pool of water around the bathtub when the plumber put his hands into the tub to get deep enough to diagnose and put his drain tool down the pipe. He was able to completely drain and pull out a huge amount of junk. After complete I lend him towels and he cleaned the whole mess up.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! This place is a SCAM! 1st complaint: Wife clogged the kitchen sink on thanksgiving - called Select Home Warranty - 5 days later someone came out 5 hours late for the appointment - wasn't able to unclog the sink. Said he would have to call the warranty for approval for someone else to try. NEVER heard back from anyone - 2 weeks later we were able to finally get it fixed but on our own. 2nd complaint: We are covered under plumbing - but when the temperature outside dropped our plumbing started making weird noises and we lost water pressure in our 2nd bathroom all together - we submitted a claim online to Select Home Warranty on January 9th - never heard from them... I must tell you, I have been probably one of your longest clients being with you for almost 15 years. 5 years in New Jersey, and almost 8 years in Maryland until my most recent move. As such a long time customer I want to outline why I continued to be a customer with them over such a long period time. 1)The plumbing service has came in handy on several occasions where a pipe for no real reason started leaking. 2)I have had a large roof leak on my first home and the roof was completely patched. 3)My appliances have always been covered and fixed, namely the microwave which has broken in three situations. Why do people have to jump through all of the burdens to get paid a simple claim?? And then when they ask for reinburstment for a year they have paid but are not using you still charge them a $75 fee??
