Cancellation Policy

Select reserves the right to cancel the service contract in the event of fraudulent conduct or misrepresentations by the customer, failure to make the required payments, or upon agreement.

The customer may cancel the agreement within 30 days from the order date of the agreement and will be entitled to a full refund only if no service has been provided under the contract.

After 30 days, the customer may receive a pro-rated refund for the non-discounted annual plan cost. The customer will be charged a $75 cancellation fee, plus any service expenses incurred by Select Home Warranty.

Select Home Warranty is horrible. The constantly delay, don't communicate and give customers the run around. I have had 2 different claims. One was a furnace and the scond a water heater. They never actually reached out to me via phone nor email. I was constantly forced to call them to ask for status updates. They were not able to have a single technician respond to our claims (in Newtown, CT). When we solicited our own technician, they denied the claims because it did not align with the symantecs of their very opaque process. We are now trying to cancel and reclaim the 3 year pre-payment, which we did when we purchased this policy, since it is not actually a warranty company, it is a scam... Read More

They claim to cover normal wear and tear but they don't. They claim they don't care about the age of the appliance or the history but they asked us to find who serviced it, the original owner, or other documents going 3 years back for a home we've been in a year. They lie, argue, and yell at customers when you call them. Their contract is contradictory throughout. Do not trust these people to help you, to be able to work with you, or to actually care about their customers.

The WORST customer service during a claim. It took 2 1/2 weeks just to get someone out to our house and then they tried to say the full amount wasn't covered because we renewed our policy early (the policy states that after the first 3 months, up to $2000 of the cost would be covered on this particular item for the remainder of the policy period- which we were still in). First they said the charge was excessive (their words) for the replacement, which they weren't the providers price was actually lower than the average replacement cost in our area, then they said that since we were in the first 3 months of our policy they would only cover $150, despite still being covered by the end of... After 3 Weeks of trying to get my washing machine fixed and 5 service contractors they assigned me that haven't worked for them in 3 years?? It's a crying shame to know if someone works for you or not. But after 3 weeks of laundry pilling up I had to buy a new washer. they canceled my contract after 5 months and only returned 1 of my payments I guess I lucky they didn't charge me $75 for the cancelation fee?? I'm unlucky for choosing them. If you are reading this please choose someone else!!!!

I was having a/c problems, I called SHW for a tech. to come out, got a service number. The a/c company said it was a condenser & coil that went out and I see that that is covered. SHW said that is was not covered because it went out because of a freon leak and Freon and anthing it touches is not covered. I called SHW and told them I got a second opioion to look at the second opinion's bill, there was no freon leak it was a condenser that went out not any freon leak. He said the condenser leaked out the freon, So no payment. Then I was told I needed to have 3 years of service records on the unit, we have only had the house for 2 years. I definitely will NOT renew my coverage with Select Home Warranty. My 7 year old ($320.00) microwave stopped working. (BTW: It's just me and my husband in our home. I rarely use the microwave. Anyway,SHW determined it would cost more to replace the bad component than to buy a new one. They never sent a repair person. And.....SHW only afforded me $90.00 toward the purchase of my replacement microwave. I bought a new microwave, had it installed and emailed the receipt to SHW. this company has got to be the worst example of a home warranty u could possible buy. on claims they give u the run around by transferring calls-hanging up or giving u false info. on my claim for a plumber after 15 calls,they told me it would be a week to a week and a half before they could get a plumber to my house. I asked to talk to a supervisor on 5 different calls and either was transferred to a voice mail or given false info or just ahang up. I even called rep who sold me policy and he transferred me to claims rep. don't recommend this company.

This company is a complete scam. They act as though you are getting a great deal when signing you up. When it comes to actually using the warranty they are awful the customer service is very inconsistent. No one has knowledge of your previous calls. I spoke to a manager and he gave authorization for work to be done and they would reimburse me after. Once it was done he said it was not covered. The manager was very negligent

The service of this company is beyond TERRIBLE!!! Do not spend your money on this warranty. They sent 2 inexperienced repair people and finally when at their suggestion I hired my own person they only partially covered the cost. I spent 4 months and 30 plus phone calls for a simple repair.

I have been trying for two days now to file a claim. On the first call I was told by a foreign person with incredibly poor English speaking skills that, "our system is down and we can't process any claims - try again tomorrow". When I asked him to take a phone claim he said, "we don't do that". Really? I paid this company a LOT of money to at the very least - process my claim. Incredible. Then I called back the next morning and got another foreigner from a call center in a country that doesn't speak English.
