Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits.

They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

I filed a claim on August. I have not received my claim money even it is November end. I have called on several occasions. I have talked to ED who promised that i will receive my claim money at the end of October. I called last week and talked to a lady and she said every one is gone for the day at 4:00 pm on Thursday and some one will call me Tomorrow. It has passed a week and i have not received any call nor my claim money. Even when i reported claim, no contractor showed for a week. They are a scam. Beware of them!!!!

Over the course of 6 months and 3 claims, this warranty company sent out only 1 technician, and that was only after I threatened to file a complaint with the BBB. They are very slow to respond if they respond at all and they do not have any workmen in the area i which I live. Furthermore, their exclusions are ridiculous. During the first 3 months, they only pay a certain amount and read very carefully because they exclude many items considered to be part of systems, a heat-exchanger is not covered as part of the heating system. The only company I have found that excludes this. Do not be fooled by their low deductible. Pay the extra for coverage that really means something and really... Read More

This is my first time purchasing a home warranty. It was the worst experience ever. I had a claim for my stove top. The vendor they sent out was not knowledgeable enough to repair, the problem got worse before it go better and still is not completely right. During the time of going back and forth trying to get it corrected I called the warranty company several times asking for a supervisor to call me. That never happened. I was on a 3 payment plan for a year of service. After never receiving a call back I cancelled the last payment. Finally I get a call not from Supervisor but from billing. I ended up cancelling the policy if they use vendors that aren't qualified and I have to fight... Read More

I purchased this one day after moving into a condo. A few weeks after moving in my air conditioner stopped working. I called select Home Warranty and made a claim. The temperature was reading 100 degrees outside. I never heard anything from them and made several calls within the next few days. Each time I was told that they would put the claim back through. The last person that I spoke to said that I could not make a claim because I had not had the insurance long enough. No one could explain to me why the first person second person third person did not tell me the same thing and I had to sit without air conditioning for a few days. Now a few months down the road I make a claim on my... Read More

This is the worst home warranty. They hardly cover anything. And forget about anything being an emergency, they will get back to you in 24-48hrs.

ANY NEW POTENTIAL CUSTOMER: Please read all of the "fine" print before signing up with this company. What they market is not the reality, even for their Platinum plan. Never heard of so many exclusions before... I enrolled in this service after doing a lot of research last February. I went to make a claim on my water heater that has started leaking. I was trying to be proactive and get it fixed before the whole things goes bad. I was informed that they will not cover a leaking water heater. I was advised to review 6.2.7 in my contract. Basically, the Premium Plan doesn't really cover anything when it comes to a water heater. When I asked the Supervisor what is covered when it comes to a... Read More

This is yet another sorry and fraudulent home warranty company. Sales person sold me on a bill of goods so to speak, saying that coverage was holistic and yet when I made a service call on my heater the claim was denied and they did not honor their word of mouth. Further when I tried to escalate the issue, I never got a call back and had to call them only to be further frustrated by their lack of professionalism in handling the matter.
