Our Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

ServicePlus is unusual for having two pre-packaged plans that each cover a mix of systems and appliances. Optional coverage outside the standard plans is available for a wide range of home features.

The company's Platinum plan stands out for covering two heating and air condition systems, which can be helpful for homeowners of duplexes or homes where there are more than one type of heating system, e.g. baseboards in the kitchen and forced hot air elsewhere.

At a flat rate service fee of $75 per service call, the company falls in line with other warranty companies when it comes to deductibles. Customers can file claims 24/7 by telephone or online through the company's portal.

ServicePlus publishes a sample contract online and a thorough explanation of what is covered under its two plans. We recommend that potential customers thoroughly read their contract to understand coverage limits, policies on pre-existing problems with covered items, and other important issues.

ServicePlus offers two types of plans: Gold and Platinum.

Both of these have a series of optional add-ons, such as pools, spas, central vacuum, limited roof leaks, and septic systems, to name a few. Their pre-packaged plans can therefore be expanded to suit every homeowner's needs.

No home inspection is required to purchase a policy. Appliance and system coverage is guaranteed regardless of age, make, or model. However, maintenance records are required for service and the company has a pre-existing condition policy which is unusual in the industry and may limit coverage.

Claims Processing - 4.5 / 5

Even though appliance and system repairs are often unexpected, ServicePlus' flat rate $75 service fee makes budgeting for home repairs a little bit easier. Some home warranty companies work use a scale to price service calls. We appreciate the predictability the company's service fee structure provides.

Total home protection is not a good reliable company. My AC went out first they have been giving me the round around for almost a week now about the repairs. All I keep hearing is that my repairs are under review. First AC technician that was sent out from Budge Appliance Repair in Dallas area he was rude and unethical did not repair the unit but demanded $105 cash (my service fee is $45) . Another technisian was sent out 4 days later the asses the problem while still her he call TOTAL home protection for approval was on the phone for 20 min. provided details and photos as asked at the end of it he was told no one was available for approval and the someone would contact him the next... The plumbing system in my house was a disaster. The problem had persisted for two months before I decided to do anything about it. I had been crunching numbers all night until my husband remembered that we had purchase a home warranty when we had first closed on our house. We hadn't used it yet and were a little skeptical about if it could actually help in this situation. But Total Home Protection actually pulled through for me. They coordinated the labor and even covered a lot of the expenses related to the plumbing damage. I am so lucky my husband remembered that we had purchased the home warranty. Talk about coming in handy! I'm so thankful.

I can't talk enough about the amazing customer service I've received from Total Home Protection. Most recently, I was in a horrible state when my plumbing burst. I spoke with a rep named Alex who explained how they could help. He was thorough, patient and calm. He took care of my scheduling and claim efficiently. I'm used to waiting and being ignored by other companies. This was a wonderful surprise.2893613p

HORRIBLE customer service. AC breaks down in 90 degree weather and the dual capacitator and motor both need to be replaced. Told they will ONLY cover the capacitator and NOT the motor because the malfunction in the capacitator is what caused the motor to malfunction and they don't cover "secondary damage". Even though the customer service representative admits to me that there is NO WAY the customer would know the capacitator was going bad and nothing I could have done to avoid it effecting the motor but it is still MY responsibility to pay for it. The tech that came out CONFIRMED it was not secondary damage and when I gave that info to the representative she stated it "is assumed"... Read More

Good if you want to feel like you have protection - but don't expect them to actually pay for anything. Sign up was easy - took my money never heard back. Had to call 3 times to get an email and hard copy of how to file a claim and plan covarage. No website to file to track claims Signed up 3 month ago and had 2 claims flied. Both were rejected due bogus interpretation of their own service agreement in direct contradiction to what is written in there: 1. Toilet stop leaking - they said there is corrosion which is why the leak happened and anything corrosion related is not covered. Well - of course there is corrosion after in has been in place for 20 year. Any old plumbing instrument... Read More

In my opinion, this company is unethical with no morals. They will do everything in their power to not pay a claim. I had a major AC failure. Others companies would have paid but this company refused. Avoid them at all costs. Scott R , Kentucky.

Do not use this company. The salesman talks them up highly, however we found that when you file a claim the response by claims representatives is totally different. Also if you do decide to enter into a contract with them, they make you wait 30 days before you can file a claim,. So make sure you don't file a claim if something breaks on the day that your contract starts because they won't honor it. Wait about 60 days and then good luck!

Total Home Protection is the worst service stay away from this company. They do not cover a lot of general things like small leaks or toilet repairs. I found out the hard way paid for service that was horrible and still had problems. I was better off buying a new appliance then what I paid for the monthly fees and the services. You also have to sign yearly contract if you are unhappy with your service and had service calls they want to you pay that balance before they let you out of your contract. Total scam you may as well pay for the services your self. In addition, the customer service is the worst I spoke to a Nic Parker and he was completely rude and not allowing me to voice... First they advertise 24/7 protection and on the week-ends you get an answering service. Our heat went out and the service did not even submit the claim. I had to call back on Monday. We then had the contractor out they hired and we were without heat for 10 days due to them. They were out twice. First on a Friday night where they could not get out heat going and then they charged us to come back on Saturday with more parts. On Saturday the contractors could not get our heat going. We live in Indiana and the temperatures were below zero at the time. We spent over $200 on electrical heaters to keep our home somewhat heated to 55 degrees for 10 days. We called out our own...
