Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Fetch also prides itself on offering more coverage than any other provider. They offer premium pet insurance and that means they are not the cheapest. Pricing is based on your pets age, breed and location.

Claims & Service

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

It has been an emotional 2017 with 5 my year old Bichon/Lhaso Apso. She woke up one morning in April and couldn't walk. She was immediately rushed to have an MRI and then surgery on her back. She was recovering well but recently had another episode of back issues. She was put on pain medicine and had such an adverse reaction she was back in ICU and almost died. The past two weeks she has been in and out of vets and it's been truly emotional. In April, I submitted all her surgery expenses to the insurance and had no issue. Best pet insurance ever. I never want to second guess healthcare decisions for my four legged family members - two rescues, a dog Lyla and a cat Gracie. They even cover behavioral problems which nobody really covers. Lyla, my now 14 year old Maltese, an ex puppy mill mom who I adopted when she was 8 years old, has battled cancer - if it wasn't for Petplan I would have had no help in dealing with the over 14k between surgery and radiation therapy. She has been cancer free for over three years now - thank you Petplan for helping me do the best for her.

Our 2 year old chocolate lab had a luxating patella that required surgery to correct. PetPlan was very helpful in processing the pre-authorization (which was optional) and the final invoice claims. They promised to refund our costs within 30 days. 48 hours after submitting the final invoices through their mobile device, they e-mailed me letting me know a check had been cut and sent. Emily Briggs from customer service was extremely helpful in resolving my claim. She helped me process the missing paperwork and when I forgot to submit a couple claims, she submitted them for me when I e-mailed proof to her. I highly recommend PetPlan for your pet insurance needs.

Emily was great and made the process of filing my claim very simple. She took the time to ask how my my puppy Hula was doing after eating a bee, and even made a personal follow-up phone call a week after we spoke to see how Hula was doing! Petplan has been great for my family. They have knowledgable and caring members on their team and it gives us peace of mind knowing we have good insurance coverage for our pets. This claim was over $1,000.00 and having Petplan made the emergency situation a lot less stressful. I highly recommend Petplan for pet insurance.

She helped expedite Tucker's claims and I could not be happier with her professionalism and friendliness. I have had Petplan insurance for 15 years for 4 different dogs, and for just 2 of my Golden Retrievers, who unfortunately had numerous health issues they have saved me well over $30,000. But thanks to great health care one lived a happy eleven years, and my eight year Golden is happy and loving life. Because of Petplan I never had to think twice about proceeding with a surgery or treatment, whether it was a simple cracked tooth that needed to be pulled or treatment for mast cell cancer. The new rates are a bit higher but still well worth it, even my German Shepard who is healthy, but has allergies her medication is covered. My new puppy got sick in middle of the night, I was frantic and called in and spoke with Gina who was extremely comforting as she explained the claims process and even help me locate and ER. I never had a puppy before and had no idea they could be so much work. The fact that she was able to help me a my puppy is all I needed to be a loyal petplan customer. Thanks Petplan!

I have been with Petplan since 2009 and never had any issues with claims or reimbursements. My dog has had more than her fair share of evil foxtail surgeries as lots of foot related issues. Every claim was handled with ease and reimbursed within a short period of time. My customer service experience has always been The BEST and I think it should be, since you pay a high premium for coverage Unfortunately, with recent price increases my annual deductible soared beyond what I could afford and the new policy would result in paying more and getting less! RUN dont walk to get this insurance for your pup.....It will be needed sooner or later, I guarantee... This is the second time i have used Pet Plan. The first was for my beloved dog Cisco, who had no problems, til he did....and eventually died of a rare cancer for small dogs at 7 yrs old. Pet plan afforded me all the care wise could give and I know that Cisco was comfortable until the end. After recuperating emotionally I have tried again with my lil pup Izzy.
