Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch Coverage

Coverage - 5 / 5

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Benefit Limits

Benefit Limits - 5 / 5

This can be advantageous if you research the types and costs of conditions your particular breed is likely to face, and combine it with the cost of treatment considering your area.

Reimbursement & Deductibles

Reimbursement - 5 / 5

Like all the leading pet insurance policies today, Fetch will pay a predetermined percentage of your actual veterinarian bill after you have met your deductible.

The reimbursement rates you can choose from are 70%, 80%, and 90%.

Deductibles - 5 / 5

Cat owners can select a deductible of $250, $300, or $400, while dog owners can select a deductible of $300, $500, or $700.

If you choose a higher end deductible, it is going to translate into lower monthly premiums. Fetch operates on an annual deductible, which is ideal as you will only have to meet the one deductible regardless of incidences.

Fetch also prides itself on offering more coverage than any other provider. They offer premium pet insurance and that means they are not the cheapest. Pricing is based on your pets age, breed and location.

Claims & Service

Extras - 4.5 / 5

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

I purchased this insurance for both my Labrador retrievers when there were a few months old. They are now 5 and 3 years old. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that I chose Petplan insurance. The people there are super friendly and helpful. My older dog ruptured her cruciate ligament and needed surgery. It was very expensive to repair and my policy covered 80% of the cost. I can't say enough about them. I'd give them 6 stars if that was an option.

No one expects any kind of insurance to be free. Pet insurance isn't "socialized medicine," and, like any insurance, most of the time you don't need it, but when you do, wow do you ever need it. That's the way I feel about Petplan. At one time, Petplan was really there for us when we needed it. But I have a sinking feeling that it is letting us pet parents down these days. If you are a Petplan policy holder and have not yet receiver your renewal notice, you are in for a SHOCK. I've had two dogs insured with Petplan. The first one, a Rottweiler rescue, was covered with a policy that cost me around $500 a year and paid up to $8000 with a $200 deductible and paying at 80% (70%... Read More

Please send me an email at socialmedia@gopetplan.com so I can dig into the details and make this a better experience for you. Thank you.

I have insured both my dogs with Pet Plan for a couple years. I have been beyond happy with the service and coverage. BUT I was just informed that the cost to insure my two dogs will now be more than a mortgage payment. I will be switching companies at the end of the annual period. I have done much research and the other comparable companies with pretty much the same coverage are A LOT less expensive. Unfortunately, three out of the five people I know who currently use Pet Plan insurance are cutting their losses and taking their pre-existing conditions and all to other companies. What is sad is Pet Plan is forcing people with relatively healthy dogs to go elseware and people with... Read More

Storm had to have surgery to repair his knee after tearing the ligament. There was so much involved in preparing for the surgery such as pre and post x-rays, care, etc. Petplan covered 80% and the turn around on the reimbursement was fantastic. We were worried about Storm and it was nice to know we had insurance to help us out financially and ease that burden.

I am extremely satisfied with my dog insurance through petplan. Our sweet Xavi is a special needs pup and has had epilepsy since he was 1 year old. Pet plan has paid for 90% of his medication and treatments related to his condition for the past 6 years. He has also had 2 torn ACL replacements covered by petplan. The customer service reps are always super friendly and helpful. I always recommend petplan to anyone who ask me about my pet insurance. I have had a great experience with them so far.

I have been a policyholder with PetPlan for many years (2011) first with my two Pugs, Sampson (dec 09/2014) and Tess (dec 12/2014); my current dogs, Fox (4 yo Pomeranian) and Louie (3 yo Pug) have also been insured since I adopted them as strays. I've been lucky- up until now- to never have to file a large claim. A few claims, here and there, were filed; however, never have I been more happy to have this insurance than now. Fox was recently showing symptoms of back pain and put on Prednisone; after two weeks on the medication and no significant (if any) progress, I returned to my vet who then said he wanted to do x-rays to ensure there was nothing broken or bad disks. If this... Read More

Love Petplan. Submitting a claim is fast and efficient. We have had Petplan for 6 years for two cats. One of our cats has had two separate operations and there has never been a problem paying their portion. Their customer service is excellent. Would not be without insurance having pets.

If it wasn't for Petplan, there is no way that I could afford the expense of the Veterinarian and what they charge to take care of a sick pet. I highly recommend Petplan Pet Insurance as they have been very good about covering mostly all of it and I haven't had to worry with money problems on top of worrying about my cat who is very sick right now. It is so nice and comforting that there is such a provision as this in place for these situations. If you don't have pet insurance, you need it!! And Petplan is an excellent one to have.

Petplan is a great insurance company that offers exceptional customer service. The process for submitting claims is straight-forward and their representatives have always been very helpful and friendly. Unlike other experiences I've had with insurance companies, I've repeatedly felt that they care about offering a quality service/product and, most importantly, my dog's well-being. I really don't have complaints and highly recommend them

Tried pet plan for 2 years. It cost me over $350 and they covered nothing. Everything I submitted was not covered including neutering, which they said was optional. Not worth it.
