HughesNet does provide a generous amount of data across its plans. The company practices a Fair Access Policy that regulates the amount of data usage for each customer. It limits the amount of data uploaded or downloaded with a one-month billing period. Customers who exceed this limit can experience a reduction in internet speed.

*** Speeds are not guaranteed. Monthly Data is the sum of the Anytime and Bonus Zone. Actual speeds during the Bonus Zone period will likely be lower than speeds indicated.

I was forced to Hughes Internet service through a bundle package with AT&T. I regret I didn't pay more attention to the Hughes contract portion. As a result, when I moved and requested cancellation, I was told by the agent that I would be charged a $205 cancellation fee. In addition, the expectation to return the equipment required going onto the roof to retrieve the radio transmitter. Funny how they installed the equipment for free when I was a new customer. Going onto a roof is dangerous enough and that they would require this or charge me an additional $200 is abominable. The agent told me when I was cancelling, that if I cancelled on the requested date, my cancellation fee would... Read More

This is the biggest high cost LACK of service I have ever paid for in my lifetime! Constant buffering... even in the middle of the night and the day after we pay our bill & HughesNet reflects 100% of 50 GB are available. Attempts to call service result in long wait times and foreigners that are not inderstandableunderstandable. Unfortunately, no other services available in our rural area. Horrible company... basically thieves!

My rating is -3. I've been a customer for 3 years and it has never worked good. If 32kbps is fast enough then its for you. Daily average for one year with 2 speed testers is 1.89mb download and 0.59 upload, ping is off the charts and never more than 21% stability (usually 0%). I have no other choice where I live. Pretty sure original satellite is failing and new one never delivered. Only when you are on the phone with them does it go up in speed only to drop 10 min after call. If you have another choice choose wisely.

Absolutely the WORST service I've ever had. Couldn't just cancel after 2.5 years, had to jump through hoops. Then got collection notice from law firm for 340$ AFTER equipment was returned. Pitiful pitiful service and lousy excuses. Highly UNRECOMMENDED! Wouldn't leave ANY stars but have to to leave comment....

The system was installed and never worked. The installer said i could use either 2g or 5g and 2was intermittent and 5 never worked. The installer was in such a hurry to go to the next job he had us do a trouble call. That call lasted for hours with no success. This went on for days with calls dropped and when you called back you had to start over because it was a different person who spoke very poor english. Finally they put someone on the phone who said they could come and fix it for 125.00 service call. It was just installed and not working yet. Why should I pay. Thats when i was transferred back into their hold system to wait for a new person. After hours of trying password s over... Read More

It sucks. Hardly ever works. They said I used 20 gigs between Oct.9th and Oct. 13, when I left for a Florida vacation. I did some research and here's how it works. If you watch 1 hour of television that equals 1 GIG. So, on the 20 gig plan, you can watch 1 hour of TV for 20 days. That doesn't cover internet usage. However, you can get their highest plan for $140 bucks ( and 2 year commitment) and you can watch 2 1/2 hours of TV for 20 days. Big whoo hooo. So, do yourself a favor and get someone else. If you live in the country there aren't many choices, so you are penalized for living in the country. I would have given them 0 stars, but I didn't have that option. Also, when they... Read More

So, I live in a rural area. My current provider can only deliver 6 mbps. Very slow for my needs, but beggars can't be choosers. Today I decided beggars can be choosers, as long is there is another possible option. The other option for me was HughesNet. So I gave them a call. I was connected to a very nice customer service rep. She was able to answer most of my questions and made a very good offer for installation and internet service. I explained I wanted to share all the information with my wife and would call them back if we both agreed that was the best option. She then transferred me to her manager. He was a whiz that was able to answer every question I had in detail. I felt good... Read More

HughesNet Internet is ok. It is comparable to ViaSat, frankly they both service the purpose for those unfortunate folks that can't get Charter (they are the best). Just know that you are going to be signing a 2 year agreement (I also added voice so I could have a home phone since my cell service was almost non extant) and they do not care if your quality of service is good or not. You WILL have to pay to get rid of any part of the service you sign up for regardless of the reason. It cost me $150.00 to get rid of the voice portion of my service because the quality was horrible. The sound was muffled and low regardless of the phone I connected. Just a buyer beware review. What a racket... Read More

We have/had verizon mifi hotspot for internet. Hughesnet sales guy said that the satellite was much faster - even when it dropped down to slower speeds and that they wouldn't install if we couldn't get the fast service. Well... they installed... slower than the hotpot's speed after using all its high speed data. Can not even watch 15 second you tube video without buffering! Called tech support multiple times, HOURS spent on phone with no improvement. we were finally allowed to cancel - still have to pay for install and 1 month of useless internet. granted they didn't make us pay the early cancelation fee. seriously a waste of time and money!

The absolute worse product I have ever used!!. I only got it because it's what Dish uses as a internet provider. Extremely slow would be an understatement. Could not stream anything without constant interruptions for buffering. There excuse was always network congestion. They came out to my home twice. Chaged out routers, , increased my service tier, purchased one of there boosters for $100 , then had to pay to get out my contract. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!
