HughesNet does provide a generous amount of data across its plans. The company practices a Fair Access Policy that regulates the amount of data usage for each customer. It limits the amount of data uploaded or downloaded with a one-month billing period. Customers who exceed this limit can experience a reduction in internet speed.

*** Speeds are not guaranteed. Monthly Data is the sum of the Anytime and Bonus Zone. Actual speeds during the Bonus Zone period will likely be lower than speeds indicated.

tried HughesNet as a part of a package through Dish. As I was on the phone with HughesNet I let them know I was not sure it was sufficient enough for my family because of the speed and GB allotted each month. The sales person told me I could try it for 30 days and if I cancelled before 30 days was up it wouldn't be charged any kind of fees related to cancellation and that I would only be charged for the month of service we used and install. This was an outright lie! We received service on March the 16th. It was very slow and we used up the GB before the month was up. I called to cancel on April the 11th. They were trying to charge me $400 and told me to send back the equipment or pay for... Read More

I have been troubled with very slow internet speeds for a long time. During this time I have contacted Hughes Net on several occasions. After one contact my speed increased to 10 Mbps for a total of 3 days before reverting to the slow 78 - 786 Kbps speeds once again. Each contact with Hughes Net has been met with a lot of promises and excuses but my poor slow internet speed has continued. I am now looking for an alternative to Hughes Net whose advertisement s don't meet reality. I would advise persons considering Hughes Net to look for some other source for their internet provider.

I had HughesNet installed in January. I have had the worse performance plus they mislead you to the speed of data and the amount of data. I complained and they gave me double the data (said a special) but that has nothing to do with performance. I use Skype to teach online and the latency was so bad it was impossible and I ended up using my phone or setting the phone as a hotspot. They also say that it works with Dish Network - I have not been able to use Netflex since I received Hughsnet. On Demand it plays a minute buffers for 5. Dish has called me twice reporting bad internet connection to the TV. I cancelled HughesNet today and of course got penalized for the 22 month... Read More

Beware that this company does not offer a 30-day refund. Service is not good. they do provide a return label for the modem. 1.5 years later expect a collection agency to bill you for their abandoned dish which sits on your roof. they will claim that instructions are provided on how to return the 'dish'. So, I guess you are expected to climb your way up to the roof, uninstall, box it (no box provided or instructions) in order to prevent it from ruining your credit. there was never any verbal or written instructions about handling this at the time of cancellation. In fact, no bill whatsoever was ever sent until 1.5 years later by a collections agency alone. Do not trust this... Read More

Dear Hughesnet, I have been your customer since 2012. Satellite was my only option at that time and you were allegedly the "best"... and slow internet was better than none at all. I was an early adopter of Gen 5 immediately after the launch of EchoStar XIXI, and that was awesome...temporarily. Initially, before everyone else jumped on, the speeds were fast and consistent. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Now your speeds fluctuate wildly and streaming video annoying and nearly impossible. More troubling are the slow page load speeds for normal websites. My current page load speed in seconds ap news: firefox 9.91 chrome 16.4 BBC: firefox 21.5 chrome... Read More

Not one thing the salesman said was true , even the fixed price , turns out 6 mos later that was just a promotional price. Then we some how used most of our data in two days when we were not even home. The only two satellite providers available are two of the most horrible companies Ive had to deal with. Apparently the only time you can get your money's worth out of these companies is between 2:30 and 4;30 am , that's when they expect our kids to do their home schooling and not use any data.

Hughes net has been all downhill since I’ve registered! Not only can i not download there site to get ahold of anyone. It’s taken me hours to write this review! Had a great Installation guy but after a few days went by realized he wasn’t doing what he should have been doing to make this work! My download and upload time is super slow “a lot slower then it promises”.. don’t even waste your time, just one cell phone trying to look up something on google is too much for this to handle. Not even close to worth 75 a month and buy the satellite they screwed to your deck and promised you had the best reception they have seen in a long time! Hughes net is a joke! Hope they will do something about... Read More

I would like to start off saying that it's funny there is a box to check saying I'm not receiving compensation for my comment, when whomever wrote this article clearly did or never used the service themselves. Every customer review I've seen has been lucky to receive a star, yet this site has it marked for 9.1/10. Notice all the asterisks up above. It's because there is no quality control and that they in no way will live up to the standard they advertise. Actual speeds are 1-10 MBs, which only applies from roughly 7am-5pm, before getting throttled in high traffic hours. And once you exceed the data plan, which is practically guaranteed after 2 weeks, it goes down to 100-700 KBs. As for... Read More
