A&E Factory Service Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Although A&E Factory Service has an A+ rating from the BBB, negative online reviews are not hard to come by (as is often the case for any service provider). Most complaints stem from communication problems, particularly regarding missed service appointments and a frustrating rescheduling process. Nonetheless, the company has a customer service line available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST and an online form to rate the service experience.

I have been trying to get my washer fixed for two months. We kept getting damaged parts delivered to our house. After getting the second damaged basket it took us three days of constantly calling to get someone who spoke good enough English to understand that we had another dented up basket and yes a third one has been put in the computer but no one has processed the order for over a week. Come to find out that a tech has to see the damage before they will process the order. Well the guy that had put in the order in the first place told us to cancel if the new part didn’t make it by the appointment. So finally get the third basket and it has a dent but we were able to pop it out. So the... Read More

I've never had worse service in my life. Since August, I have been waiting for my microwave to be repaired. The first visit the service man had no parts with him and then ordered the wrong part. He then ordered what I hope to be the right part, but the last 4 appointments were canceled and rescheduled. Our new appointment is now in November. The part is sitting here waiting for someone to put it in, and since I have a home warranty, I am reluctant to call someone else. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. Worst service ever.

I have used them before but this visit was a WASTE. Annually, I schedule a preventive maintenance (PM) on my Kenmore washer and dryer thru Sears Home Services. For this, the technician was very nice but his instructions were to merely turn on a rinse cycle on the washer to see if water enters and drains...duh! I had done that the day before so I knew it worked. Remember...this was supposed to be a preventive maintenance check! For the dryer, he merely turned it on to see if it heated! DUH...I dried 5 loads the day before. Because you cannot arrange a joint visit for washer/dryer (they have to be scheduled separately) the charge was to be about $129 EACH!!! for NOTHING !!! He... The freezer portion of my 2 year old Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer would occasionally frost up. A&E was the company Lowe's used for service warranty. I had no problem scheduling but was very concerned about all the negative reviews if they would show up. I called on the day of service and the tech's recorded time of arrival had been moved up an hour and then he actually showed up about a hour earlier. I was very glad to see him. He was very polite, helpful, and professional. He adjusted the freezer door and tried a couple other options to get a better rubber seal at the top/side of the freezer door. Hopefully this will continue to stop the... Read More

Rip-Off City? You be the judge. A&E was sub-contracted by Sears Home Services to repair our dryer. There was to be a $79 diagnostic charge that would be waived if we proceeded with whatever repair was diagnosed. Not only was the charge NOT waived, repair cost was exorbitant ($18.98 for parts & $303.00 for “labor”, which included the non-waived diagnostic charge, travel time, & less than 1/2 hour actual “labor”. Overall experience was horrendous, to say the least, including Sears, repair tech, lady at tech’s office, and lack of promised email receipt.

My washing machine was repaired in July 2021. When putting the machine back together the drain at the bottom was not pulled through and the cover was put back on. Since I don’t manually drain the water very often it wasn’t until October 2021 that I noticed. I called and they said that since it had been over 60 days the only thing they could do was schedule a new appointment for $149. I explained that the technician put the cover on without pulling the hose out but they said there was nothing they could do.

We paid in full for the Service Technicians review of our appliance at the time of the service. A&E continued to send us an invoice for the work that was already paid in full. A&E remitted us to a Collection Agent despite paying in full at the time of service. This has the potential to harm our credit. Beware of A&E and their billing practices.

My 6-mo-old upright freezer got stuck in defrost mode twice, causing the contents to thaw. The A&E service tech was very professional and said he knew exactly what the problem was and would have it fixed in 20 minutes, but after a 1/2 hr, he said he had to order parts and scheduled to come out again A MONTH LATER. On the day of the second appointment, no call/no show. The website says the parts have not arrived and when they arrive, I need to call and reschedule, but you can't reach anyone on the 800 number. That's it. No commitment. No call. No apology. No customer service whatsoever. I have a hog coming Friday and now have to pay a repairman to fix the freezer or lose $700 worth of... Read More

Do not use this service!! The worst customer service I have ever had. My refrigerator has not been working for over 3 weeks. It is less than one year old. I have had two visits form technicians who have told me they have not been authorized to work on the model that I have. Looks like offices overseas also. Next for me will be consumer complaints agencies.

A&E is one of the worst companies I’ve had to deal with. They sent a serviceman to look at my GE refrigerator. He told ME he could not get parts for it. Period. End of story. On the other hand, he told my insurance company something else altogether. To them he said, ‘We do not service machines unless we have a model number AND serial number; I don’t have those.’ In fact, the model number was pasted on the refrigerator door. I moved the unit away from the wall and on the top center in plain sight was the model # and the serial #: he hadn’t even been bothered to look. Another A&E technician came to the house to inspect my GE clothes washer. He ordered parts and said to call for... Read More
