With 72 years under its belt, Lowe's has provided an array of home improvement products through the years, including major and minor home appliances, hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint and building supplies. The company only offers repairs and services to store-bought appliances, but with over 10 brands supported and an ample list of premium protection plan benefits, customers can confide in Lowe's ability to offer the services they need.

Lowe's Appliance Repair Services

Appliance Repair Services - 5 / 5

Lowe's offers appliance repair services through the manufacturer's warranty and through their appliance protection plan. If the problem is covered by either of these, the appliance will be repaired by a certified technician at no cost. However, if it is not covered, repairs may be offered by the technician at the customer's expense. The protection plan promises basic benefits, such as functional part and labor coverage, normal wear and tear repair, and reinstallation coverage, among others. Unfortunately, the plan's terms and conditions mention that they do not cover accidental damage or abuse, routine maintenance and consumables, and cosmetic damage, unless specified. Here at ConsumersAdvocate we recommend customers to read the terms and conditions thoroughly to inform themselves on Lowe's protection plan features and restrictions. Lowe's also offers a replacement plan, but is only eligible for products that retail for less than $300, after all discounts have been applied. This excludes major appliances and water heaters.

Lowe's Additional Services

Additional Services - 4.5 / 5

Lowe's does not offer home improvement or home maintenance features unless covered by their appliance protection plan. However, they offer technician-certified installations for their appliances, and their protection plan offers various premium benefits, such as a 30% payback reward benefit in case you end up not using your plan for repair issues, and a 50% reimbursement on preventative maintenance items, such as water and air filters.

Lowe's Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Lowe's is not BBB accredited, but it has an A+ on their website. As it's common with long-standing companies, Lowe's has a low score on review sites like Trustpilot. Lowes does not mention a satisfaction guarantee on their repair services, but it typically offers a 30 day return policy on appliance purchases, and free functioning parts and labor coverage on appliances as long as the problem is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or their protection program.

After a 1 1/2 years my GE over the stove microwave quit, I emailed Comerco that looks after the extended warranty and after several email I was given a service order number. It's now going on 2 months and the only thing I've gotten is a phone call that they are waiting for parts (what parts I don't know since they haven't been here to look at it). It's ridiculous that a company like Lowes doesn't look after their customer's service. If I had known how bad their warranty service is, I wouldn't have wasted my money.

My Maytag washer purchased in 2018 stopped working on Nov. 18, 2020, due to a malfunctioning lid lock. I purchased their 5 year exteded warranty. The part has been on back order since then and as of Jan. 22, 2021, I am still without a washer. Lowes refuses to refund or replace the washer and insists I have to wait until the part is available.

Lowe's contracted through Appliance Repair Heroes through Hayward where I live in San Jose. They were scheduled to start between 12 to 4pm and no one called or showed up. When I called and texted their office, no one responded. This is pathetic customer service and zero follow through for the customer who waited all day for them to respond. Also reflects on Lowe's and their ability to subcontract with reliable and reputable services for backing up their extended warranty services. My LG top loading washing machine has had an unbalanced drum from the factory and after 2 years of light duty service the main thrust bearing has expired. It's time for them to completely replace the... Read More

We bought a LG dishwasher from Lowe's in Feb '19. Of course it had to be ordered so that took several weeks. We bought the extended warranty at the same time. In July '20 the unit started shutting down mid way through the cycle. We unplugged it to reset the circuit board, helped for about 3 loads then back to the same thing. I called Lowes service and they said they would send a repair man out. A guy from A&E out of Madison Wisc.(we live in east central Iowa) showed up 4 weeks after we called Lowe's. They don't have any repair service in our area. I told him the problem, he had to call LG because he didn't know where the circuit board was located. He opened the panel and looked at... Read More

I purchased a Frigidaire microwave at Lowes with the Lowes protection plan. I had a very bad experience with the service from Lowes and the microwave company. It took them 3 visits including ordering wrong parts and lost parts, and took 5 weeks to get the microwave repair. No other options from Lowes except to sit tight and wait. With that type of inconvenience for our family, including babies, I would have preferred to just buy a new microwave. The microwave worked for around 4 weeks before it broke again. Lowes offered to send the technicians again. No options to replace it. Needless to say I preferred to refuse service and just bought a new microwave, obviously with a different company.... Two years ago I ordered a GE stacking washer and dryer with warranty. It took 2 months and multiple trips with installers bringing the wrong stacking kit. In the end, I did the research to find the right parts and installed the machines myself. Fast forward two years and the dryer has broken. I've now had 3 visits by repair people, multiple rounds of parts ordering, and 2 months into not having a dryer and still do not have a working machine.

I purchased a GE microwave from Lowes and got the three year warranty. The microwave stopped heating after about 8 months of usage. I called the phone number to get the warranty work done and they were booked over three weeks out. When the guy came, he had not spare parts so they had to order parts and we scheduled another date for them to come out to put the parts in. This was over threes weeks down the road. When the guy came to install the parts, one of the parts was bad. Guess what??????????? yep another three week wait to get a new part and a third visit from the repair guy... First, based on what was wrong with the microwave, they should have had the three possible parts in the... Read More

Let me tell you about Lowe's in Enterprise Alabama. We did home renovations in 2019 and bought majority of the stuff from Lowes. We bought a SAMSUNG appliance suite (Samsung Family Hub Fridge, Samsung Convection stove, Samsung 51 decibel dishwasher and Samsung Microwave. In addition to the standard warranty, we purchase 2 and 3 yr additional warranty on the products. The appliances were purchased on the same date in March 2019. Fast forward to November 2020, the dishwasher pump has gone out and I called Lowes warranty department to start a claim and get a service person to come out to fix it. Guess what! There is no record of the purchase much less the warranty. I have never been so... Read More

I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator on October 15, 2020. By Thanksgiving it seemed to have a problem. I changed the temp on the refrigerator side to be colder and waited to see if it got colder. Bought a thermometer to check the temp and found it to fluctuate between 42 and 50 degrees. I could not get it any colder than that. I then noticed that meat we had purchased and put in the freezer after 4 days was still not frozen. Called for service under warranty and was directed to Whirlpool. I tried the Whirlpool website to get service and was informed no service providers in our area. I called the phone number and after and hour on hold got told by the person who came on the line that she... Read More

I bought a Lowes extended warranty on a brand new Whirlpool refrigerator. in 2018. 2 years later the ice maker quit working. I called for service 5 days later a tech came out. He said "yup, your icemaker is broken and did absolutely nothing". He said that he had to get approval from Lowes to order a new one. After hearing nothing, for a week, we called and were told that they approved the repair. 4 weeks later, nothing, so we called again and they say that the part has been ordered but hasn't come in. Another week and we called again. This time they say that the part is on back order and they don't know when it will be in. I went online to a parts supplier, typed in my model... Read More
