With 72 years under its belt, Lowe's has provided an array of home improvement products through the years, including major and minor home appliances, hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint and building supplies. The company only offers repairs and services to store-bought appliances, but with over 10 brands supported and an ample list of premium protection plan benefits, customers can confide in Lowe's ability to offer the services they need.

Lowe's Appliance Repair Services

Appliance Repair Services - 5 / 5

Lowe's offers appliance repair services through the manufacturer's warranty and through their appliance protection plan. If the problem is covered by either of these, the appliance will be repaired by a certified technician at no cost. However, if it is not covered, repairs may be offered by the technician at the customer's expense. The protection plan promises basic benefits, such as functional part and labor coverage, normal wear and tear repair, and reinstallation coverage, among others. Unfortunately, the plan's terms and conditions mention that they do not cover accidental damage or abuse, routine maintenance and consumables, and cosmetic damage, unless specified. Here at ConsumersAdvocate we recommend customers to read the terms and conditions thoroughly to inform themselves on Lowe's protection plan features and restrictions. Lowe's also offers a replacement plan, but is only eligible for products that retail for less than $300, after all discounts have been applied. This excludes major appliances and water heaters.

Lowe's Additional Services

Additional Services - 4.5 / 5

Lowe's does not offer home improvement or home maintenance features unless covered by their appliance protection plan. However, they offer technician-certified installations for their appliances, and their protection plan offers various premium benefits, such as a 30% payback reward benefit in case you end up not using your plan for repair issues, and a 50% reimbursement on preventative maintenance items, such as water and air filters.

Lowe's Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Lowe's is not BBB accredited, but it has an A+ on their website. As it's common with long-standing companies, Lowe's has a low score on review sites like Trustpilot. Lowes does not mention a satisfaction guarantee on their repair services, but it typically offers a 30 day return policy on appliance purchases, and free functioning parts and labor coverage on appliances as long as the problem is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or their protection program.

Terrible, horrible customer service!! Do NOT buy the extended protection plan for any appliance. It’s a waste of money. Besides the fact that these “so-called” service companies that you will be referred to are all “fly by night” and have absolutely no interest in repairing your appliance. I agree with the comments below about the wait times, incompetence, and rude behavior. And the wait time for trying to contact Lowe’s is ridiculous too - at least 1 hour each time. They’re all using the Covid excuse so they don’t have to provide good customer service. Tell everyone you know not to buy from Lowe’s!!!

Everything that needs to be said has been said in the reviews below. Just a quick summary--multiple calls to the A&E customer service center--2 weeks wait for appointment--service person never showed up--2 more weeks--service person showed up--3 weeks waiting for parts--1 still hasn't arrived--so they they "re-scheduled" for, you guessed it, 3 weeks out--so washer still not repaired today. Very simple--will never purchase another appliance from Lowes, or HD, or BestBuy--they all use the same contracted service (used to be Sears Appliance Service, now A&E). Called a local appliance store--they actually beat Lowes price and have their own trained service techs. Check around--you might be... Read More

It took 4 phone calls, total of 2 1/2 hours on hold to get an appointment. Service person that arrived was subcontracted from the subcontractor Lowes rep told me would come. The service person was EXTREMELY RUDE! When he first arrived as I was explaining that the washer was giving an LF code and I replaced the hoses, he cut me off mid sentence and said; I don't need any of that. To be clear what I just typed it almost verbatim all I had said. So he was obviously not interested in fixing anything. He spent 20 minutes, not even long enough for the washer tub to fill. Then he said "can not replicate the problem. Next time see if you can make it happen so I don't waste my time." So he... Read More

Extremely horrible customer service and LG fridge support. Be prepared to be waiting 45 min to 1 hour for every call on my 1-800 no hassle LOWES warranty repair number. It took 4 phone calls to even get someone to try to help. We waited 3 weeks to finally be given a date to schedule my repair. No local repair places will work on LG or other big name units with Linear or Variable speed compressors. The day of the repair my wife took off work they never showed!!!!!!!!!!!!. Come to find out the repair company said they called Lowes and nobody called us to tell us they cancelled. Now we are 4 weeks with no fridge or freezer. The next scheduled appointment was another 20 days out... Read More

Disappointing. After waiting 1 hour on the phone each time I called, I was finally able to schedule my repair. They scheduled me twice to come repair my dishwasher and twice no one showed up. Lowes did absolute nothing about it, besides schedule me again. They promised me someone from Lowes would call me to let me know what happened and again, nothing. Two days of work lost waiting on the repair company and no oven one phone call from Lowes.

Worst warranty service ever. They do not answer the phone even after being on hold for more than 30 minutes. I scheduled a repair and provided my contact information. They called to cancel two days prior to scheduled repair after I took time off of work and they called my husband instead of me, even though they had my contact information. Unable to get anyone to answer the phone two days in a row. My washer is not working, I paid for the extended warranty and cannot even utilize it. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER APPLIANCE FROM LOWES AGAIN. If I could give zero stars I would. Two weeks without a washer because they are incompetent is outrageous.

My ice maker hasn’t worked for nearly one month. I have extended warranty. They came and checked 12 days after calling. Another 13 days after ordering parts still no ice maker. If I had used a local repair service I would have ice. Think I’ll try Home Depot next time, can’t be much worse.

I purchased a washer from Lowe's 1 year and 1 month ago. I filed a claim on my warranty through the Lowe's Protection Plan when the cold water valve broke. Lowe's contracted with Active Appliances in Van Nuys, California, to fix it. It took a week to get Active Appliances to my home and then two more weeks for Active Appliance to order the part. When a repairman came with the part on June 25, he said it was broken. Now, I can't get another appointment until July 14, which is 1 month and 8 days since my initial claim. I have been on hold with Lowe's Protection Plan for 1 hour and 36 minutes -- three times -- hoping to get this resolved. I've been told that Active Appliance is the only... Read More

My 5-yr old Whirlpool washer's transmission has died ONE MONTH after the warranty expired. I've spent hours (not being facetious) trying to get through to see about my options. The offer after my first call was to give me local repair phone numbers so that I can pay $400 for the transmission on a $500 washer. It's even in sale right now for $498 so I paid more 5 years ago. I feel swindled.
