Coverage - 5 / 5

As a leader in the auto insurance industry, Progressive offers some of the most comprehensive coverages in the market, including basic and additional plans, as well as loan payoff option or gap insurance for drivers whose cars have been declared a total loss.

The company was also the first auto insurer to introduce pet injury coverage for cats and dogs.

$50 from your collision and comprehensive deductible for every claim-free policy period.

Auto policy periods last six months.

In many respects, Progressive has a leg up on the competition, particularly with regards to usage-based insurance options or pay-as-you-drive insurance.

The company’s Snapshot program is among the first of its kind and allows drivers to obtain excellent discounts based on their actual driving habits.

Customers merely have to download an app and drive, the company will then evaluate the users’ driving habits for the first policy period of approximately six months and offer discounts based on the data collected.

Another excellent feature customers are sure to enjoy from this insurer is the “Name Your Price Tool” which offers prospective clients different rates and coverage options based on the price they can afford to pay or expect to pay.

To use this feature, users simply have to request a quote, either online or by phone and provide some basic information regarding their vehicle and driving habits.

Among the companies additional coverages and benefits are Progressive’s roadside assistance program, a loan or lease payoff option, a rental reimbursement coverage, a custom parts and equipment coverage, rideshare coverage (for Uber and Lyft drivers), and its deductible savings bank feature, which allows policyholders to save $50 on collision and comprehensive coverages for every policy period they remain claim free.

Claims Satisfaction & Customer Experience - 5 / 5

Although Progressive has yet to be accredited by the Better Business Bureau, they hold an A+ rating with the organization.

As of the date of this review, Progressive Corporation holds one out of five stars in the BBB’s customer reviews section.

There have also been little over two thousand complaints filed against the business, with most relating to problems with the company’s products and services.

According to the NAIC, Progressive has a casualty insurance complaint ratio of 1.11, only slightly higher than the median score for private passenger insurance in 2016.

For a lender of its size and market share, these statistics are quite commonplace.

Despite minor negative feedback, Progressive Corporation remains among the most solid alternatives in the current auto insurance market, mostly due to its size, industry experience, and solid financial strength and stability.

I have been with progressive for the past 5 years! I thought it is very good until last couple weeks I called for roadside assistance (which I also added to my policy) and they told me I use the road side assistance more than twice. So they can’t help me.. Today I called asking why I owe $156.00, customer rep told me that because I added in a car then took it off 3 days later. Then added in again 5 days later.. OMG! My trust for progressive went down...so disappointing

Took 27 days to get an answer back from Progressive. That's right, 27 day's the vehicle was in the shop while the Progressive adjusters tried to find something relating to a mechanical issue so they could deny the claim. 27 days the shop owner had his service bay tied up while holding the adjusters hands multiple times during their inspections and explaining to them how everything works. After several inspections and 27 day's later, they had to lie about finding something to try and support their claim for denial. The shop owner told them it was fuel contamination from the beginning, which is covered. But the adjusters(not mechanics), worked against me and hindered the complete... Read More

This is the only company I know that required a proof of garaging and I understand it's for a good reason fraud and all that but they decided that when I moved from my old address that they would back date my new address to when I started the insurance coverage at my prior address. They refused to help rectify the situation. This company loved to swindle money from people and claim "its company rules" Trying to communicate with customer service is like pulling teeth.

After bieng T boned at a 4 way stop a few weeks ago in a hit and run I filed a police report and a insurance report that same hour it happened. Luckily I got the guys license plate! So I was so sure I would be covered no problem right... WRONG progressive was no help in pursuing the opposing insurance and thus they suggested I pay for the damages?!? What?!? Not to mention every time I try calling my claim representative, No answer. Absolutely Terrible, Giving them 1 star is too much credit. I will never go back to this insurance

Progressive gave us the Best Rate & Coverage of many Insurance Companies on two vehicles for out first 6 months. We participated in their Snapshot Program for an extra discount. No problem we had a good driving habits, no accidents or traffic violations in both cars and supposedly earned $66 discount on one vehicle and $56 discount on the other. But when we recieved our New Renewal Policy our rates were raised $132 and $108 respectively on both cars & no sign of the $122 Snapshot Discount they say we earned in cost for Coverage. Which leaves me to believe the Program is just a ploy & has nothing to do with the cost of Coverage. Progressive says it's spread over each Coverage Cost.... Read More

Been with Progressive Car Insurance for years. When making a claim, they took 27 days to get back with an answer. The adjuster never called back when he promised to call back. I actually had to call back the following days and leave multiple messages. They even had more than one adjuster involved and still very poor customer service skills. When I finally spoke to a supervisor in Ridgeland, MS., 27 days from the 1st initial call in, it was par for the course. After inspecting the vehicle several times and not being able to find something to support their claim for denial, the supervisor had to lie about something that wasn't present because they were approaching the 30 day mark and... I filled out an online quote with Progressive. Then I followed up with sales rep for more information. As requested, I sent them pictures of my cars, vin numbers, address verification for my kids, etc. The number of emails that were exchanged were about 20. I then received an email stating that my quote was approved and that I could pay online to begin the policy. The website would not allow me to retrieve my quote - so I called customer service. This time the service rep took my info and began a whole new quote. She then said my info had to go to underwriting and said she would follow-up with me the next day along with Underwriting in the call. No call came. I received another email... Read More

July, 2020, I was shocked to find out my homeowners insurance was increased by approx. 30% due to my reduced "insurance score" from TransUnion. HUH? Nothing had changed in a year except we had bought a car with a 3 yr. loan for the first time in 15 years. Oh, and we were doing a refi on our mortgage to take advantage of a lower rate. So, I called to complained, the lady at Progressive stated they couldn't do anything about that cuz an "insurance score" is a predictor of a person filing a claim. Really? I said, I have 2 cars and my home with you guys for 3 years, and NEVER have filed a claim. NEVER had filed a homeowners claim anywhere, EVER. As to cars, had not filed a claim since... Read More
