Coverage - 5 / 5

As a leader in the auto insurance industry, Progressive offers some of the most comprehensive coverages in the market, including basic and additional plans, as well as loan payoff option or gap insurance for drivers whose cars have been declared a total loss.

The company was also the first auto insurer to introduce pet injury coverage for cats and dogs.

$50 from your collision and comprehensive deductible for every claim-free policy period.

Auto policy periods last six months.

In many respects, Progressive has a leg up on the competition, particularly with regards to usage-based insurance options or pay-as-you-drive insurance.

The company’s Snapshot program is among the first of its kind and allows drivers to obtain excellent discounts based on their actual driving habits.

Customers merely have to download an app and drive, the company will then evaluate the users’ driving habits for the first policy period of approximately six months and offer discounts based on the data collected.

Another excellent feature customers are sure to enjoy from this insurer is the “Name Your Price Tool” which offers prospective clients different rates and coverage options based on the price they can afford to pay or expect to pay.

To use this feature, users simply have to request a quote, either online or by phone and provide some basic information regarding their vehicle and driving habits.

Among the companies additional coverages and benefits are Progressive’s roadside assistance program, a loan or lease payoff option, a rental reimbursement coverage, a custom parts and equipment coverage, rideshare coverage (for Uber and Lyft drivers), and its deductible savings bank feature, which allows policyholders to save $50 on collision and comprehensive coverages for every policy period they remain claim free.

Claims Satisfaction & Customer Experience - 5 / 5

Although Progressive has yet to be accredited by the Better Business Bureau, they hold an A+ rating with the organization.

As of the date of this review, Progressive Corporation holds one out of five stars in the BBB’s customer reviews section.

There have also been little over two thousand complaints filed against the business, with most relating to problems with the company’s products and services.

According to the NAIC, Progressive has a casualty insurance complaint ratio of 1.11, only slightly higher than the median score for private passenger insurance in 2016.

For a lender of its size and market share, these statistics are quite commonplace.

Despite minor negative feedback, Progressive Corporation remains among the most solid alternatives in the current auto insurance market, mostly due to its size, industry experience, and solid financial strength and stability.

Cheap rates but when you have a claim they are terrible. After fighting with them on unfair low payout offer and getting nowhere I had finally filed my claim through the insurance company of the other driver (who was at fault of course) and got $3000 more for my totaled car on first offer. God help me if I was at fault and had to accept Progressive’s low ball offer. Do NOT get Progressive car insurance, it’s literally not worth it.

You pay for what you get I suppose. They have low rates but if you get in an accident good luck bc you’re pretty much having to handle the claim yourself. I got in a car accident 2 weeks ago (100% not my fault) and since then it’s been phone tag, misinformation, confusion between liability and who’s insurance is covering what costs. I still haven’t been able to get a rental car. They totaled my car and I had to fight with them to give me a fair amount for total loss (which I’m still not happy with) so now I’m 2 weeks without a car, without a check to buy a new car (which is not going to be even close to a reasonable amount to replace my vehicle in this economy) still without a rental, and... I was in a car accident and the other party was at fault. Progressive is their insurance company and the agent advised me that they have 7 days to proceed with the claim. It has now been 9 days and have no form of transportation, no car seat to take my child anywhere in case of an emergency, and absolutely NO response from the agent after several attempts to contact her. Now I am stuck with no way to work or doctors appointments for my 6 month old daughter and there still hasn't even been an idea on how to resolve this issue. I am extremely distraught and disappointed in Progressive.

After 30 years and emerald status I broke my back and ended up having 2 fusions to try to fix after the first one failed the second one was delayed due to incompetent spine dr now am in pain 24 7 but during my down time my insurance dropped due to me not having any income to pay for it I just called them earlier to reinsure and they tell me an unreasonable begginer driver quote. I talked to a manager then the lead an he said that because you did not pay we drop you to begginer. This is after 30 yrs of paying them with 0 claims it is true discrimination due to me being handicapped I even played them while I was unable to drive they did not care and said the state is who is at fault trying... Disagree with top rated company. I have zero accidents in the family, zero tickets, one home claim which was hail damage, all over last 5 years. Insurance on cars has increased $100 year and Home insurance close to $200 a year over last three years. Be careful, they get you, then bump you up. I just received another quote from very reputable company, same coverage and $600 less total for bundled coverage. Bye bye Progressive..

I Would never insure with progressive insurance again using their snapshot device will work against you. my wife drives a 2017 corvette and is a very safe driver but because the breaks in the car are sensitive they raised the rate 20+ % for hard braking. You'll do you and your pocketbook a disservice if you use there enticement for better discounts.

Progressive’s claim review process is the shortest you will ever see. Evidence for a claim was submitted (after getting the run around from their adjuster for two weeks) for review at 7 pm on a Friday. Progressive got back to us with a denial by 8 am Monday morning. This will teach me not to leave USAA for a cheaper rate. Do you know why they offer cheaper rates? They don’t pay out for claims or even look at them. Go elsewhere.

Progressive is the sorriest insurance company to deal with. My sister had Progressive insurance and got tboned by another Progressive insured customer and progressives offer for the totaled car wasn't even enough to replace her loss with a vehicle of the same value. Progressive told her that she either accepted the offer or they would have the totaled car dropped off in the banks (leinholder) parking lot and she wouldnt get anything.

I have been with Progressive for 5 years. Had a small accident, driving less then 5 MPH, no damage to my vehicle, other party was $2,558. They drove into me, evidence was there, however, Progressive says I was at fault and hit me with a surcharge of $67.88 per month added into my monthly payment. I went directly to an agent to see what the difference in cost would be, received a quote, no surcharge for my accident and my payments went down by $58.15 per month compared to what I would of been paying Progressive prior to my accident if I stayed with them. They should focus on saving their customers money instead of running such stupid foolish ads.
