Coverage - 5 / 5

As a leader in the auto insurance industry, Progressive offers some of the most comprehensive coverages in the market, including basic and additional plans, as well as loan payoff option or gap insurance for drivers whose cars have been declared a total loss.

The company was also the first auto insurer to introduce pet injury coverage for cats and dogs.

$50 from your collision and comprehensive deductible for every claim-free policy period.

Auto policy periods last six months.

In many respects, Progressive has a leg up on the competition, particularly with regards to usage-based insurance options or pay-as-you-drive insurance.

The company’s Snapshot program is among the first of its kind and allows drivers to obtain excellent discounts based on their actual driving habits.

Customers merely have to download an app and drive, the company will then evaluate the users’ driving habits for the first policy period of approximately six months and offer discounts based on the data collected.

Another excellent feature customers are sure to enjoy from this insurer is the “Name Your Price Tool” which offers prospective clients different rates and coverage options based on the price they can afford to pay or expect to pay.

To use this feature, users simply have to request a quote, either online or by phone and provide some basic information regarding their vehicle and driving habits.

Among the companies additional coverages and benefits are Progressive’s roadside assistance program, a loan or lease payoff option, a rental reimbursement coverage, a custom parts and equipment coverage, rideshare coverage (for Uber and Lyft drivers), and its deductible savings bank feature, which allows policyholders to save $50 on collision and comprehensive coverages for every policy period they remain claim free.

Claims Satisfaction & Customer Experience - 5 / 5

Although Progressive has yet to be accredited by the Better Business Bureau, they hold an A+ rating with the organization.

As of the date of this review, Progressive Corporation holds one out of five stars in the BBB’s customer reviews section.

There have also been little over two thousand complaints filed against the business, with most relating to problems with the company’s products and services.

According to the NAIC, Progressive has a casualty insurance complaint ratio of 1.11, only slightly higher than the median score for private passenger insurance in 2016.

For a lender of its size and market share, these statistics are quite commonplace.

Despite minor negative feedback, Progressive Corporation remains among the most solid alternatives in the current auto insurance market, mostly due to its size, industry experience, and solid financial strength and stability.

I have been with Progressive for a few years now. My wife was recently involved in a traffic crash. The other driver was 100% at fault. My wife is not experienced in dealing with insurance claims and expected to have our insurance company, Progressive, take care of the matter with the other driver's insurance company. We hoped for good customer service. However, my wife was treated disrespectfully on the telephone during this period. When I attempted to speak to the same claims representative to ask whether it was being treated as a third-party claim, thinking our insurance company had our best interests in mind, I was informed it was already registered as a claim with Progressive. When I... Read More

I signed up 6 months ago Jan. 2024 because the customer service was excellent and the price was even better. I paid it in full. I am a retired teacher so no longer commute or drive much. I've had a spotless driving record for over 15 years. Now it's time to renew for another 6 months and the price / the premium went up $300! What a scam. What a disappointment. I only went with progressive because they claim to save you so much money. I will be changing to a new car insurance carrier today. Buyer beware.

I went through the otto website and they gave me a quote of $42.00 and I continued to finish my quote. They came up with three auto accidents that I was in and I had no idea what they were talking about. They immediately raised the quote by $27.00 and said I could talk to the comprehensive loss underwriters. Then gave there number which was a number for a medical device that I don't need. They asked me if I wanted to finish my quote and then hung up on me. If this was progressive it is not the level of quality that I expected of them. Be leery of anything that has Otto insurance

Progressive's business practices are a bit questionable. They give you a sign on discount that only good for 6 mos but dont really mention this in their website when signing up, unless you click on a 6 pt font that takes you to the TOS. So plan on your insurance rate increasing by $140 a half, which is basically $300 for the year. Totally ridiculous. Oh and there is no discount for paying your 6 month rate in full at all. Another totally ridiculous situation.

Progressive Insurance company is the best of the best. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident where I needed 7 months of 3 days a week physical therapy as well as various doctors and MRI. The bills started rolling in and I was deeply concerned that at $260 a session for physical therapy I would have to quit going because of financial reasons. The way they manage your personal injury protection is outstanding! They could have paid them as they were presented, but instead in the same way that health care insurance works they have negotiated pricing with various service providers. I had over $40,000 in bills that Progressive negotiated so well that only $8,000 of my $10,000 PIP was... Read More

I notified progressive that I was moving to a small town, if you see 5 cars it is a traffic jam. $130.00 is my payment. I told them it was too high. first a guy spent at least an hour and a half reworking my policy. I was told to pay $50.69, on Oct 22nd. Then on the 24th they charged me $132.02. I call, which means another hour and a half later they gave me the run around, which is normal for Progressive, finally told me their agent had forgot to cancel the older policy. They would refund around $70.00 (something), At the time the $132.02 was processing in my bank. They did not stop this, they let it go through and did not refund me anything. When I called today to question why I... Read More

I received quote of $1638.00every 6 months for auto insurance. Agent asks me if I wanted to bundle my home with car insurance, I said no. Because I just pay premium for 1 year and I dint want to cancel my current home insurance. So about 1.5 months into new car policy and I get another bill for $195.00. Caled progressive and they say it is penalty for not bundling. I explain myself and tell them I will not pay this since I already paid for 6 months, and I will not be renewing policy with them. Two weeks later I called and told them that I need to cancel one of police because I sold a car. I should get refund around $257.00. Next thing I know I got check for $67.00. So, they take my $195.00... Read More

I had called to request a change in my policy and it took four calls to finally get the change made. The first time I called I was on hold for 46 minutes and 5 seconds, I got tired of waiting so I hung up and called back. The second phone call I was on hold for 41 minutes and 13 seconds, got transferred multiple times and then put on hold again for 21 minutes 10 seconds, and then 14 minutes 23 seconds. The representatives there are ignorant of their job duties & the wait time is the unacceptable!

Well I was with progressive for many years today I changed an employee in Nevada a woman was totally rude to me. She said we were living inappropriate cause we live in an rv cause we can't afford to buy a house. Wait til that knuckle heads on ss she'll find out. I was insured by them for 8 years I had a few claim the last one was really bad. But they raised my ins to 370 and when I spoke to Nevada even more 440 a month that's inappropriate and so was she. I am real mad about the was I was treated what they changed my bill to as well. I had claims showing up in there I never made too. I didn't have that many and I was used and scammed.
