The absolute worst health insurance company in the world...puts profits before people and their top heavy executive branch has to get the money from somewhere...they control doctors and the way doctors can practice medicine today...keeping members in a sick care mode instead of helping members, especially seniors stay healthy! Stay away from these crooks...

I rated it low because of their customer service. The plans are very good, however, their internet and web site experience is the worst I have ever encountered and the telephone experience was even worse than that. Nothing can be accomplished with a phone call if you have a problem and getting on line at their web site is a nightmare.

I started with them in March and will leave as of Dec. The only way to communicate with them about a grievance or issue is by...snail mail. This is done intentionally to discourage the process, unlike other companies which will immediately take such information over the phone or provide ways to email or fax. I have already gotten so much misinformation and contradictory information from reps. These are signs that the company is not dedicated to providing appropriate health care, just saving money. And I pay 833.00 a month. I see no ratings anywhere here, maybe because I see not one positive review.

Denied coverage for in-network provider's recommended duration for mental health care treatment.

For maternity, they screw you over. They may partially cover prenatal visits but expect to pay full price for the $6,000 delivery because forget it if you haven't met the deductible, which most do not. They are a rip-off, wouldn't recommend.

I've been having difficulties sorting out some medical bills from the past and when I called to figure it out I was connected with one of the most obnoxiously rude customer service reps I ever talked to. The issue was still not sorted out so I called back the next day and was transferred 3 times and the last person still could not help me with my issue and got an attitude with me because of it. I eventually got connected with someone extremely helpful but he faxed over inaccurate information so I had to call again. After 2 transfers, 30 minutes on hold, and a less than helpful outcome I felt defeated. All I needed was an accurate letter of credible coverage and the people at United Health... Read More

After multiple years of paying for allergy shoots for our son, UHC decided in October of last year that "allergy shots are not medically necessary" and that basically anything to do with allergy medications or healthcare is junk science. This change occurred in the last quarter of our policy year, so it was a change midstream of coverage. We actually increased our policy in January and they still refuse to pay for allergy shots. The "Doctor" that reviewed whether allergy shots are medically necessary? A plastic surgeon!! How bad of a plastic surgeon do you have to be that you are sitting behind a desk reviewing paperwork? I can' believe any of the reviews are real or recent that give 5... Read More

This is the worst insurance company I have ever encountered. Everything from constant voicemail messages demanding callbacks; being transferred to numerous departments when you call back; constant mix-ups and denials of everything from using their website to getting prescriptions covered. They even require longhand (yes, it's true) correspondence and snail- mail to contact them. None of us have time for this. I cancelled after 3 months.

I have been dealing with UHC for 2 years. They made many mistakes that I had to spend hours correcting them. Mistakes like putting my massage therapist claims as PT claims And OT claims as PT claims that some of my PT sessions didn’t get coverage as they went over the allowance as a result. Also the out of net work departments often said part of the claims are not covered when all the earlier claims from the same doctors and procedure codes were covered. Their mistakes took me multiple times on the phone holding a long time each time to try to get them corrected. Average calls were over an hour. The last claim (sevice date 7 mo ago)that I have faxed 3 times to the claim department... Read More

My husband works for a huge corporation, which subscribed to UMR through 2018. Then they switched companies. Because of this, UMR refused to pay my November 2018 well woman exam. First they pretended to need confirmation I'd had only the one. I sent it. Then they refused again. I sent more records. Finally my husband's HR department got involved. Now I'm told corporate HR gave up. I am now having to pay $190 out of pocket because the doctor doesn't deserve to be cheated by your poor policy. I'm heartbroken, shocked, betrayed and so despondent at this; it is the opposite of best practices. I will be telling everyone on every review site about this. This is my third already. If...
