Would rate UHC zero stars if it were possible. Their premiums are far too high. They are shady about hiding third-party fees. They aren't clear about what they will/will not cover and what the patient will be required to pay out-of-pocket. Their customer service wait time is excessively long. Their customer service representatives are unhelpful because they are not knowledgeable about their products/system. You just get a run-around of circle talking and absolutely no resolution. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with them since my company's board of directors doesn't seem to care about the "peons" and opt for the cheapest option for their own ledgers.

Terrible company to deal with. I have had them for 12 years now, and when I needed to rely on their doctors for three surgeries, they were all failures and terrible doctors to deal with. When you have to deal with the company itself, the process it always long, drawn out, and something you always regret afterwards. You can file complaints, but they don't go anywhere and they don't have to do anything to fix their quality of care. I have always hated having to deal with this company and after three failed surgeries and having to pay into an insurance company for 12 years to end up with disfigurement, chronic pain problems, and three failed surgeries because they use incompetent doctors.... The worst. Call them and they will tell you something different each time and create a run around. Horrible waste of time and money. Really the worst !!

United Health care has been a good company to work with , however LEGACY, who they contract with in my state is terrible. The two companies are in conflict in the way United Health Care promises certain things and Legacy will not honor. Legacy Health system is really a poor system to be involved with . My doctor was not educated well and made a very bad medical call, the office 'lost' my paperwork to change doctors twice and after nine months of waiting to change and NOT have a PCP, I left. I also got calls cancelling appointments I made because in error, they thought I was medicate(never have been) instead of medicare. Overall, Legacy health demonstrates a indifferent attitude toward the... Read More

More and more physicians, pathologists, emergency rooms, etc. are not accepting UHC. I went to an ER that was part of the plan and then received a $900 bill for the ER doctor who is not in the plan. I had surgery which was pre-approved, but received several invoices later from physician's assistant and pathologists who are not part of the plan. A pre-approved procedure has ended up costing me several thousand dollars. I will switch from UHC during the next enrollment period and would advise anyone to avoid them.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST, DO NOT BUY THEIR BAD INSURANCE. First, super expensive premiums. Second, denied payment of medically necessary tests (MRI) that were ordered by Dr. - this was not an elective test. Third, they have an arbitrary and mysterious system for applying your out of pocket cost to the deductible, which is never explained. Out of $3,000 I had to pay out of pocket, only $500 was "allowed" and applied to my 3,000 deductible. This is really the worst thing since it makes this company a fraud, actually scamming us. Under their scam system, no one will ever reach their deductible or out of pocket maximum, and they will NEVER pay your health costs. Which is what happened to me. We... Read More

New to this insurance (Community Plan) and I am beyond frustrated to say the least. Not only have I gotten hung up on by the customer services representatives but it has been an absolute nightmare finding an OBGYN. Every office I have called that is listed on their list of providers tells me they do not accept this insurance. So I finally was able to talk to someone who was very kind and he told me two more, called them and was told "sorry, we don't take that insurance" and "sorry we aren't accepting any new patients with that type of insurance". This is not the type of stress I need expecting and after already having a miscarriage at that! I am not sure where to go from here and I can't... Read More

Was taken to the ER and given a cot/bed in a hallway and charged $4000 and UHC covered a grand total of $1763 leaving me with a $2237 bill, when I called UHC I was given the message "We are experiencing technical difficulties, we will call you back at our earliest convenience" What is the point of having insurance that covers less than 50% of your bill and then when called has no service. There should be a class action lawsuit against them in the works with this type of customer abuse and absurdity!

UHC has implemented red tape disguised as policies to make it difficult for members to get full benefits. I went to CVS for a flu shot and they said UHC requires either a separate vaccination card or a pre-authorization. For a lousy flu shot! I went to their website for information and I could not even get to the page where you enter your User ID and Password. The link to the Log-In goes to the Pre-Welcome page and you can't get to the log-in. My therapist submitted claims 4 times and they kept rejecting them without providing an explanation. Only through word of mouth with colleagues did she find out that she had to use a different code. Even though she was on the phone with... Read More

New to this company and already getting ripped off! I never had a provider that takes my money every paycheck, then takes more when I visit my doctor and pharmacy. I'm better off using discount coupons for meds and limiting my doctor visits. Fist chance I get, I cancelling this MAFIA rip off place. This place is a nightmare. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
