My employer paid them and they lost the payment so all employees lost coverage for weeks until it was resolved and they found the payment. Had to cancel my MRI and then get it reissued. Tried to call them to get an MRI approved and they told me they would snail mail back an approval in 15 days. Who uses snail mail for an urgent medical procedure? Also, it took 8 calls to their number before I spoke to a person. The prior 7 calls after waiting on hold would pick up and then hang up. VERY FRUSTRATING.

In July we received a bill from our health care provider for a vaccination administered the previous December that United Health care refused to pay. It was a standard vaccine that by federal law was covered 100%. When we called United Health care we got lied to by 2 different customer service reps, hung up on by another, until I finally asked for a supervisor who took the time to look into it and said it would be covered, 3 months later they have not yet paid it. Then on October 1st we received a letter from United Health care informing us that our PCP was no longer a part of their network and we would have to pay out of our own pockets 100% of all charges from that provider, RETRO... They do a lot of things well, but forget about their Healthy Rewards Card. I have tried 3 times to get a bad card replaced with no help at all from their service. I will never use it again and will encourage everyone else not to waste their time using it. Just stick with their other services.

Your company and policies are so messed up. I was denied an MRI for my knee, that was prescribed by my primary care physician. Reason? I didn’t get an X-ray, which is basically useless for knee issues. I didn’t go to an expensive orthopedic specialist. I didn’t have 6 weeks of expensive physical therapy. I did take pain medication or anti inflammatory medication. But the kicker is, the out of pocket cost for me to pay for an MRI without insurance is $250. UnitedHealth rip off, you denied paying $250, but ok to pay a specialist and physical therapy for 6 weeks? What is wrong with you?

Warning!! UnitedHealthcare openly admitted they made mistakes which caused a developmentally disabled/elderly man/limited income to lose out on a monthly food benefit. This is a benefit they advertise. They refused to compensate him for his loss--due to their mistakes--and said, "well, just too bad." This food benefit was much needed by the individual, who cannot advocate for himself. This may have happened to thousands, and the company just kept the money? File with the FTC, if this has happened to you.

This place really is a piece of .... work. Honestly, You are better off being self pay than dealing with them. Look for in network coverage? Nothing. File a claim.... crickets. Call in? "I'm sorry we never received any information". I have additional insurance and I can't even file a claim with them because UHC can't even process a claim. Run. Run for the hills.

I've been a UHC customer for years. Now that I have no internet access, except friends, I cannot get a list of Behavioral Health providers sent to me. Am researching insurance companies for a large senior adult church school. MY rating is just terrible. Am asking current members of UHC to change as soon as thy can. Other insurance policies have all physicians in their provider books they send out. It took at least 25 phone calls and same number of emails to get a list of psychiatrists sent to me. It is just too late. Internists don't know how to prescribe mental health drugs. Here's a clue. Most senior adults have no internet and won't pick a doctor over the... Read More

I have been given nothing but the run around. I have spoken with over a dozen different representatives and I cannot get the same answer twice. Nothing makes sense. First they approve the medication and then they want to reduce the dosage based upon some sort of checklist. A couple of issues with this (a) I have been on the dosage for over a year, (b) the manufacturer of the drug does not supply a reduced dosage and (c) they pharmacy cannot even give me pricing or any other information since it is held up being partially denied. If I could give negative stars, I would.

*Absolutely Horrible* My employer switched providers from Aetna to United HealthCare in January. I work for a great company who has always taken amazing care of its employees. However, after the 27th time HR tried to convince us that we would have the same effective coverage, I grew suspicious. These clowns epitomize what is wrong with medicine today. They are the ones who are trying to keep patients from going to Emergency Rooms: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/10/health/united-health-insurance-emergency-care.html Here's what's prompting me to write this review: My wife woke up with extreme lower back pain 17 days ago. She's been going to physical therapy, and her... Read More
