Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I had this service for 2 months and I had a claim for my refrigerator. I called on Nov 3rd and 17 days later I am still without a refrigerator the day of this review is 11/19. I have had poor customer service, poor tech response, and no closer to getting my refrigerator fixed. I am out 45 dollars and a refrigerator. So much for a home warranty....I would tell anyone who is shopping for a warranty to run away from this company...They will scam you out of your money and leave you high and dry. Now I am stuck taking the vendor to court for destroying my refrigerator and left to pay another person to fix what he took apart. So if you're smart, do your homework and select another... Found a leak in the basement and called to start a claim. Response time was fast but claim service was terrible. Took three weeks to get a contractor out here which was out of Choice Home Warranty's control. Contractor came out, cut into the basement wall, and found where the leak was coming from and that it had been slowly leaking for some time. Was told by the contractor that more approval would be needed and that his company would contact our warranty company. Warranty company called an hour later to inform us that it would not be covered as it had been leaking for more than 30 days. Could not have been an easier process. After having one bad experience with a technician (for an unrealated issue) they had no problem letting me choose a technician that I had a great relationship in the past for this current issue. That made all the difference.
