Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Christian was absolutely the most professional as well as incredible in explaining the problem & sharing guidance for the future. He is absolutely the best technician I have ever worked with. You are fortunate to have him as an employee. Thank you

The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is that I just signed up and haven't used it yet, so can not speak to that. I spoke with the agent over the phone and was offered several different payment options as well as a rate within my budget. I always research things before I buy as to others opinions and ratings. Choice appears to be #1 or close to it, so I am feeling comfortable with my decision. I hope I don't need to ever use you, but it is nice to know that you will be available should the need arise. Thank you!

The rating is based upon my last interaction with Choice. I had a very concerning HVAC matter, that should have drew strong assistance to the gravity of the situation. I submitted a claim on 14 August that my A/C went out. I live in FL and the interior temperature was roughly 87 degrees. A vendor was not available until mid-afternoon on the 15th of August. That vendor was not able to arrive at my home's location until the 26th of August which is completely unacceptable. Again, this is the middle of summer and 10 to 11 days to have someone just come out and diagnose the HVAC unit was just not acceptable. I have a family with small children. I made several calls to again ensure that... Read More

It was good even though Jakes Plumbing was very slow. You might need to consider getting someone else. They are very slow.

I love the prompt service when getting someone to handle any of my AC needs, but I’ve had someone out 3 times for my AC and I’m out of 400.00 and still having the same issues. I’m not saying all 3 companies are bad, but I’m not saying they have the best technicians either. I have a family and I want to make sure their comfort is the main concern here.

My laundry washer stopped working so opened a claim with CHW. First appointment offered for technician to diagnose the issue is after 10 days (so had to manage without the washer for 10 days). Technician was very knowledgeable and professional, he identified the faulty part which does not exist in the market anymore so CHW offered Lowe's gift card of amount which was very low($300). I opened a case and requested a claim specialist who said that is what CHW could offer. No where in this expensive world you can find a washer for $300. Even their preferred partner Lowes would cost me at least $600 for a basic washer. What is the point of having this appliance insurance if I am going to get... Read More

Well I'm not 100% happy with them choice that is they did the best they can I guess we are a couple of seniors about a home in February and have found out that we need a complete Plumbing under our home as our floors slowly buckle because they put Band-Aids on everything because they don't want to pay high dollar a whole thought that the purpose of a home warranty was to help the homeowner but it's okay cuz they are going to fix our three leaks that we have now and hopefully that'll fix it for a time being until we can figure out a way to come up with $10,000 to do a complete Plumbing under our home we live in a 1800 square feet mobile with two bathrooms and the laundry room buyer beware... First claim I had. Filing claim was simple, I received several emails from Choice, keeping me informed of the process. Dishwasher was fixed within a few days, with no hassle. Very pleased with Choice Home Warranty and the tech that was sent out.
