Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

Claims Processing - 2.5 / 5

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

We are on day 15 of no heat and no response on our furnace coverage. It is still processing and the tempratures are in 30's and 40's. When we call we were told it was going to be finished in 24/48 hours. That was last week. Yesterday were told it would be approved yesterday. Still being processed and only getting answers from call center. This is unacceptable and unprofessional to keep someone waiting on an answer when it's the winter months we are not into.

TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! PAID THE $100 SERVICE CALL TO BE TOLD THE FURNACE WASN'T COVERED IN MY RECENTLY PURCHASED HOME. THEY SAID IT WAS FAILURE DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR, SO UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL NEW SYSTEMS AND THEY BREAK DOWN THEN YOU ARE COVERED BUT YOU PROBABLY ARE COVERED WITH A WARRANTY FROM THE APPLIANCE MANUFACTURE. WISH I COULD GIVE A 0 RATING.

I closed on a residential property in the morning. That afternoon I received an email asking me to activate my warranty. Eight days later, long after payment left escrow, I STILL cannot access my warranty. Customer service reads scripts well but could not make a difference. FIND. ANOTHER. COMPANY.

First issue with needing electrician 3 years ago- addressed swiftly without issue. For the last month, we ordered a service request regarding our dryer not heating. The service provider they assigned no showed and no called, today was the third time. They NEVER came but went ahead and ordered parts to be shipped to our house. Its been almost a month and we're still unable to get anyone to come or reach anyone. We've called HSA and the service provider multiple times. HSA rep states the the wait time 56 minute for them calling the service provider and that we need to call back to HSA to try again (and include that they'll email the service provider). They can't close the request due it... Read More

I would not recommend this coverage! We experienced a compressor failure on a late model LG refrigerator recently. After waiting 4 days for a technician, we were told the repair couldn't be complete due to technicians calling out that day. We were then told the repair would be completed the following week. Since then, we've be given multiple dates for repair and delivery of the new compressor (none accurate). After speaking with HSA directly multiple times, we were instructed to call Sears directly (southwest Asia call center). They could not answer anything (only a scripted reply). When we questioned them for an accurate repair date, we were hung up on. We are going on 3 weeks with no... Read More

Going on 3rd week now waiting to get MORE parts for a dishwasher. They get you a service person of THEIR choice. Had our hvac company check our furnaces and both had cracked heat exchangers. Yep pumping carbon monoxide directly into our home. Had our company replace both furnaces and then contacted HSA. Oh we can’t reimburse that because you didn’t go through us. I guess we were suppose to die of carbon monoxide poisoning instead of getting the systems fixed right. If there were 0 stars that’s what I would give them. Waiting is sometimes deadly! Will never recommend them!

Terrible service , no communication, had heat pump break down , service company recommended replacement due to condition and age. HSA would not replace as with the models available they will not fit in my home. There is only one brand that would fit and they refused to replace the unit and my only option was a cash out of 2 grand , when now it’s going to cost me close to $7 grand out of pocket. This company is a scam and does not support the warranty when you have a real issue. Been a customer for 8yrs .

Unreliable and do not live up to their contractual requirements. I spoke to multiple libels and they either once their risk folks deny something they will never change their mind. Skip this company and search for top 10 home warranties. They are terrible.

I have submitted 4 different claims to HSA and all of them were cleverly denied. Once one was approved for my Hot Water Tank...it took WEEKS and I mean WEEKS of back and forth to get them to even make a move on getting THIER contractor to do anything. This is by far the most unreliable and disappointing warranty service I have every experienced. My next step is to start a fight to get my money back because I have lost more than I have been able to use in this relationship. This company is terrible and their customer service is all outsourced and argumentative.

While each representative is friendly enough, the extent of service is them repeating verbatim that the authorization department made the decision that my charges were not covered and recommending that I consult directly with the vendor for clarification. I consulted with the vendor, who was also unclear. When I asked for an escalation, the gentleman to whom I was transferred, referred me to my contract- section F, bullet 5- however, when I questioned the existence of the terms "hanging or suspended" in the language, his tone became more annoyed and he stated that the decision was final. I asked for the opportunity for completing the survey, which was available on all 3 previous calls, he... Read More
