Our Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

This company is the most worthless company I have dealt with in my entire life. ZERO customer service support. I am shocked at how they are still in business.

I have been a HSA customer for 2 years and it was the worst thing ever. I was given this warranty as a part of the purchase of my home. This company is an absolute JOKE and complete waste of money. I live in Alaska and my boiler system went down and I called the ridiculous HSA; I explained to the very uneducated customer service people that they need to mark the service request as expedited; oh the lies they tell after 15 f*cking minutes on the phone with a person who lives in the Philippines who grasp what NO HEAT meant I got the "Yes I have marked it as expedited; yes I got it documented they said; I called the company the referred and the answer I got was" we will get you scheduled... Terrible Service, sends unqualified serviceman, to repair leaking drain, leak reappears in 35 days, won't stand behind service, requires new fee for same problem. No consideration for time, inconvenience, cost for customer, or taking responsibility for unqualified repair service.

Terrible. They hired a company (Sears) to fix our dishwasher but instead they caused a leak that lead to water damage to our kitchen cabinets and floors. Now the claims adjuster (Sedgwick) refuses to pay the full amount needed for repairs. Avoid this company - they hire incompetent technicians to "fix" problems in your home that end up causing more damage that you then get to pay to fix. They need to be held responsible for this.

This company will do everything to NOT pay you for the service that you pay for. We had a water pipe bursting in the middle of the winter. We have a baby boy at home so it needed to be fixed asap. They said no contractor available that day - understandable considering we were requesting one around 5PM - so we asked if they can provide an authorization for an outside contractor. AN HOUR on the phone and got nothing done so we told them whatever and called in an outside contractor ourselves. I escalated the issue via facebook and they assigned someone to my case right away (power of social media). They agreed to reimburse a small amount of the cost saying this is how much the contractor... Read More

I have a hard time giving a 1 star rating. This company SUCKS! and I will be canceling my contract with them. I called at 9:00am to let them know our heater crapped out and we had a baby in the house. Was told they would expedite my case. The vendor called me - they were over an hour away from us and wouldn't be able to come out until Friday. I called back and talk to yet another person - she said she would call me back - 3 hours later still no call; called back a third time, same thing "Michael" said I'll call you right back, nope no call. Fourth time calling (an hour later) I call wait on hold for 30 minutes and they hung up on me. I am reporting this company to the better... Read More

Just tried to cancel my NEW policy and the woman on the phone yelled at me then hung up once I told her HSA had terrible reviews online! Now I do not know who to call, because obviously this company is NOT reputable! An honest company would try to make the customer happy and stand by their product. "0" Stars.

After being told I would receive a call from the contractor and not, I gave them a call; voicemail. And voicemail for the Saturday and now Sunday. I could understand if this was a less vital fix, but this is my HEAT in JANUARY. Tried calling HSA to get something done and got routed to their call center in some third world countries with accents so think you have to ask them to repeat what they say multiple times. Finally communicate with them and they basically say it sucks your heat is out but we can't do anything until Monday. What the hell is the point of a 24/7... Read More
