Our Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

Please do not use this company. You will have wasted more time and money than you can even imagine. My furnace went out in the beginning of winter. A technician was sent to my house within 24 hours (that is the only good thing I can say about them). The technician informed us the furnace was a fire hazard and he refused to do the repairs telling us that we need a full replacement. The technician sent in his diagnosis to HSA multiple times. The lady that I spoke with at HSA tried telling me that they never received the diagnosis and therefore could not move forward with the repairs. For 3 weeks I called every day for an update and was informed that HSA was waiting on their authorization... Read More

One star is too many. HSA has terrible customer service. I have been trying to get my refrigerator repaired for over four months. I have called three or four times and spent a total of at least 2 hours on hold. No one can address any concerns. They're just terrible. I will be switching warranty companies next renewal. Avoid them if you can.

We put in a repair request to HSA Home Warranty on our Electrolux oven . The dashboard on our oven went bad when we had a power outage on the night before. The power outage was not due to bad weather. HSA sent us a technician from Sears, and the technician determined that the control board went bad due to the power outage. HSA refused to cover the cost for the repair ($395.98) as it was related to a power outage. Power outages are one of the main reasons for appliance failures, and we could not believe that a home warranty company would not cover any appliance repairs related to a power outage. They claim that they also cover electrical repairs, but if there is an appliance issue... Read More

If I could give HSA 0 stars I would. This has been by far the worst experience I've ever dealt with pertaining to follow up, customer service and accountability. I place a request for service on October 30, 2019. It took HSA 48 hours to get to a contractor to come to my home. Once the contractor arrived, he viewed my dishwasher and said it a electrical issue and he couldn't fix it and left. It took two people to come and at once to say they can't service the dishwasher. No one disclosed the next process. I called HSA to complain and was told once the contractor provided his report, it would be transfered to a electrican and to another vendor. Today is December 10, 2019 after 7 calls of... Read More

HSA Home Warranty provides poor customer service. The call center team is in the Phillippines. They answer the phone but have no authority. They email the Authorization Team in the US with customer service requests. The Authorization Team will not phone the customer. The communication is broken. They authorization team in unresponsive to emails too. The policy is expensive and the service is so poor. Avoid this company!

Atrocious customer service. You make a service request online, nothing happens. Call back the next day, they “never got it.” They then assign it to a contractor who’s supposed to contact you in 48 hours. They never do. Call back 2 days later, they transfer it to another contractor, who now has 48 more hours to contact you. They never do. And so on. And so on. And so on. There’s apparently no accountability for these contracts who just ignore your request. Then eventually you call back and THEY tell YOU to reach out to the contractor. Why should I have to do that? I’m paying YOU to take care of it and get something done. Total waste of money. Oh and PS, every single phone... Read More

HSA sent a plumber to my home for a broken water heater. The plumber advised us it would be 14 days to get a simple plumbing valve that every Lowes and Home Depot sells. For another $85 they offered to expedite it. It's unreasonable to expect a homeowner to go 14 days without hot water. HSA was unresponsive and did not assist us. They also would not refund the $75 charge to send the incompetent plumber to our home. DO NOT BUY THESE WARRANTIES.

Well, I was going to give this company a terrible review but it looks like 81 people beat me to it. You would be better off and less frustrated if you just threw your money in the garbage. Everything the other reviewers said is true. Be careful, they will auto-renew on you without your approval and then charge you a fee just to cancel. They are a bunch of jerks. I don't know how they have not been reported for fraud. Unfortunately, no stars or better yet, negative stars is not an option.

The reps at the Asian call center are very hard to understand. Once you get past that stage, the coverage is useless. We were given a warranty by the sellers. However, they refuse to fix anything. They happily apologize that your upset but they won't honor their contract. There is nothing good to say about this company. Rating of a one is too high.
