Our Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

HSA provides a sample contract for potential customers on its website: HSA Sample Contract

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

What a joke! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HSA TO ANYONE! THEY ARE CROOKS AND SHOULD BE RUN OUT OF BUSINESS!!! I was sold a HSA Home Warranty when I purchased my home in March 2019. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and my wife has been without hot water for 10 days now with no end in sight. Her first call to HSA set her up with contractor that couldn't come out within 5 days. The second call got a guy out that day at 8:30 pm. He informed my wife that he could only attempt to fix it, but that he would end up coming out again because it is shot, but HSA won't authorize a replacement without an attempt to fix it first. After another call to HSA they agreed to replace the water heater. However,... Read More

I JUST GOT AN ESTIMATE FOR A WATER HEATER REPLACEMENT AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY MORE THEN $ 800 OUT OF MY POCKET BECAUSE IT IS A CODE VIOLATION, AND NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED AND THE HOME WARRANTY DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR THAT. JOSHUA FROM HSA, STATED THAT CODES CHANGES ALL THE TIME, EVEN FROM ONE YEAR TO ANOTHER ONE. BUT I HAVE TO PAY $ 107 FEES FOR A PERMIT. AND I HAVE TO NEGOTIATE WITH CARL'S PLUMBING FOR A BETTER PRICE. AND I HAVE NO OPTION FOR A SECOND ESTIMATE UNLESS I PAY ANOTHER $ 79 DOLLARS. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN ME WHAT IS WHAT THEY ARE COVERING FOR MY WARRANTY IF I HAVE TO DO ALL THE JOB AND KEEP ADDING MONEY TO WHAT I THOUGHT IS A HOME WARRANTY, EVERY TIME THAT I HAVE NEED TO USE... absolutely horrible service. the customer service reps are polite and nice enough, but nothing ever gets done no matter how often you call to keep them on track. It seems like 90% of their employees dont understand how to do their jobs (they cant communicate accurate policies, coverage, or answer questions effectively). It is impossible to speak to a supervisor or the escalation desk (i would know b/c ive asked to talk to them 4 times out of the at least 20 times that ive call over the last month regarding the same claim). They are are complete waste of time, money, and energy. ALSO they use the worse service providers available. The AC techs that they sent out, (Stout Heating and Cooling... Read More

Absolutely horrible company. No one in their offices speak English. Charging a fee and saying there is no way to get out of your contract is a ridiculous way to retain customers. Maxes on benefits are extremely low compared to others. I regret wasting two years and almost $1400 to this company. I called today with a hot water heater that was leaking all over my basement. I never got a call back, so I called the company again and they put me down for next week. So, no big deal, I'll wait until my basement is flooded or just no hot water for my family for a week? I don't think so. I'm sure they'll send me to collections for $43 cancellation fee, but I win because A)... Read More

This is a horrible company. In 15 months every single interaction was a problem - except the one when it was time to renew my contract when they were happy to help as quickly as possible. 15-20 minute wait times on the phone would end with someone saying, "just a moment", putting me on hold again and after another 5-10 minutes the call getting disconnected and no effort ever made to return the call - despite being required to confirm my phone number before we even talk. EVERY. TIME. No joke. It was impossible to do anything with them and I feel like they stole my money. When I finally did get them to send me a contractor for a problem it was literally the worst plumber in the entire state... Read More

They are a rip off! DO NOT get this coverage. As soon as I needed my AC repaired they sent this company that found a B.S. reason not to pay for fixing it. I had three other AC repair companies come out and they never mentioned anything wrong with what HSA said. Save yourself the money and the headache and avoid getting coverage with HSA.

I have been trying for 1.5 weeks Just to get them to agree to pay for the air-conditioner from a company that won’t scam me by requiring me to pay for a lot of extra unneeded parts. They have been terribly unresponsive, unwilling to forward me to a manager, and unwilling to get this issue resolved. I would give them zero stars if I could.

Poor quality service and custumer service. They sending people that are pretending that are profesionalists, however in the way they diagnose the issue you understand that is all wrong. I had a issue with celling fan and was told by the electrician that is a problem with the remote control, so, I paid $75 DEDUCTABLE and another $50 to get anew remote control that in the end of all to find out that is not remote control issue, but something else that i have no idea of because warranty company did not sent a second opinion they did not want hear anything about and still saying that is not covering the repairs by them even I have got a wrong diagnose. Do not recoment this company because... Read More

DO NOT do business with this company. They take your money and have it in the policy that you can't use anyone to fix repairs except for their people. I had a leak. I called on a Saturday and they told me they would have someone here on Monday. It has been over a week and I still have not had anyone show up. I have called several times. They give you the run around and refuse to let you speak to a supervisor. This business is fraud! DO not walk. RUN! Would NEVER RECOMMEND.

HSA Home Warranty is the WORST!! None of the home warranty's are perfect but this one by far is the worst!! All of their customer service agents are overseas and all they do is read from a script. You have to repeat yourself a million times for them understand what you are trying to tell them. While you're talking all they do is repeat another script. It is absolutely AWFUL!! We purchased a home with a new microwave oven. They have been out 3 x's to fix it and they want to come out again as it's still broken. This is a colossal waste of time. I'm ready to just go buy a new microwave. Instead I have to wait for the repairman to say that it is not repairable. The repair company... Read More
