Our Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

HSA provides a sample contract for potential customers on its website: HSA Sample Contract

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

HSA uses the absolute worst appliance repair companies. We have been trying for over a month to fix a non working fridge and still going back and forth with them. Each time they say they will call the appliance repair company and of course they tell me I have to again wait 24 hours. Same thing the next day. Nothing ever gets resolved. I'm beginning to wonder if this whole home warranty business is just another scam.....

My HSA warranty covered the replacement of valves due to corrosion. The plumber had to replace a portion of the pipe to properly install the new valve. After much back and forth the with plumber and HSA, HSA refused to cover the pipe and charged me $200 (in addition to the $75 claim deductible). I would've been better off hiring my own plumber for the work...the home warranty is a joke.

This is the second time I've attempted to resolve home issues with my warranty for my newly purchased home. A plumber was called out four times and the toilet still doesn't work. So we can't and don't use it. My refrigerator made loud noises and was warm inside. I called three to four times and no one came to the house for a full week. Their website statement claims: When a problem arises in your home, you simply make one call to HSA. Service representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you. If an HSA authorized service provider cannot respond in a timely manner, HSA will approve the use of a contractor outside of its network to ensure the convenience of fast... Read More

Quite possibly the worst company I have ever encountered in my 47 years on this earth. Please stay away, they don't cover anything and they do not care whatsoever.

Don't buy this product. If you are selling your home, just give the buyers the amount of the policy, and they will be a lot happier. Nothing that I need is covered...they cover my refrigerator, but not the freezer in my refrigerator....What? The list goes on.

I've created a service request to repair my dryer , contractor showed up and told , will place an order to replace parts . since then no response from HSA, every time same response " products is back ordered " 30 days over but no response . Planning to reach out consumer court to file a case . Please suggest how to file a case in consumer court. OMG - worst customer service , they will not provide any answers , simply they will kept me on hold (30 to 40 min) and disconnect the call.

I have now paid 2 service fees for contractors to come out and repair my a/c. The first contractor (Piedmont Mechanical) patched it long enough for it to run 90 days which now requires a 2nd service fee. They also advised the issue with the duct work was not covered and would cost me over $5,000 out of pocket. This was a lie and duct work is covered. Dealing with the lying contractors and HSA was equally frustrating. I would not recommend them!

Horrible company! Luckily, I only inherited this warranty from the previous owners of my house. My A/C quit working, so I had them send a technician out to check it. It cost me $75 for Stout Heating and Cooling (no website and a 1 star rating on Google) to look at my unit and completely misdiagnose the issue. They said EVERYTHING would need replaced, it couldn't be fixed, and would cost be over $3000 out of pocket. I called Williams Heating and Cooling the next day for a 2nd opinion. They not only said it didn't need replaced, but fixed it for well under $500 same day. I've now tried to call HSA to get my $75 back. I reminded them that they have to know how terrible the service is... Read More

HORRIBLE Warranty company. I DONOT RECOMMEND. It's juts waste of money and time. I had an issue with washer and they couldn't figure out the issue for 5 months. It ended up to be replacing the drum and they said it will not be covered and I need to $840. Customer service is horrible. They don't know their job. Each one tells a different story.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE My husband and I paid for a warranty at the beginning of April when we bought our new house and called to use it at the end of July. It took 2 weeks for them to figure out why I did not have a policy. I contacted the account executive after a week and she took an additional week to resolve the issue and that was with me calling/texting daily to get a status update. All of this time I was without an oven (I ended up watching a youtube video and fixing it myself) and my air conditioner was leaking/only partway working in the 90+-degree heat. The extended period of time that it took to resolve my issue has now caused mold to grow on... Read More
