Overall Rating: 2.2 / 5 (Average)

For 40 years, Old Republic Home Protection has remained among the three largest home warranty companies in the industry, providing comprehensive coverages for homeowners, home buyers, and real estate agents alike. Although their plans offer full protection for most systems and appliances, they can be rather pricey depending on the area of coverage and size of the home. Overall, Old Republic is a reliable option for anyone looking for enhanced protection and round-the-clock claims processing.

Old Republic charges a different trade call fee, ranging from $55 to $100, depending on the state, size, and condition of the home. They have the standard 30-day waiting period before coverage can begin, a 30-day recall period on labor, and mostly restrict customers to their network of contractors, unless they have been previously authorized by the company. Nevertheless, Old Republic does have a 24/7 claims department, which many customers find convenient and isn't offered by all home warranty companies.

I just bought the house in May but when we moved in the air condition in one of my kid's room was not working and I called them to fix it. They came out and SAID " SORRY, BUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS A BIG JOB" And we can not cover it for you. They recommended to call the office and left. Next thing I rec the bill for $75. My refrigerator's door was not closed all the way and the ice maker was not making ice. They came and said" Sorry, this has to call the office for specialist about the manufacture" we can not fix it right away. Next 2 weeks later I rec another $75 to come out and say that to me. I got so mad and called them to cancel my policy in September,2018. Now check this out. They... Read More

took 6 weeks to get an AC unit replaced in 110 degree weather. paid pool insurance repair was disallowed due to fine print. will not reply to emails. will not put anything in print, only voice. company contractors are the worst possible. rarely answer phones or return calls. never had a home warranty before so have nothing to compare them to but I would avoid this one.

This company is completely unprofessional. A microwave was installed in my home on 8/17/2018. The BRAND NEW microwave has two dents and 1 scratch on the front panel. This was reported to Old Republic minutes after the install and contractors left. Both the contractors and OLD REPUBLIC said, "not our problem". Unbelievable! Ive been calling them for now two months and today, 10/25/2015, an Old Republic representative refused to let me speak to anyone in management. DO NOT USE OLD REPUBLIC!

This service is nothing short of a SCAM. I cancelled their sorry butts and got a refund. You should do the same!

Bought a new house with a home warranty from Old Republic. The first time I used their service was to repair a leaking kitchen water valve. Old Republic contracted some very small plumber that sent out a guy in training. After several calls to his boss, he decided for some odd reason to cut a 1 foot square hole in my dry wall, which had nothing to do with the leaking valve. When he left, the valve was not fixed and now I had this big hole in my wall. He was supposed to return to make the final repair, but failed to show up. I finally contracted a reputable plumber to replace the small ¾” valve and another guy to repair, spackle and paint my dry wall, and $230 later, it was fixed.... Read More

Avoid this company. Had their service for 6 years never requiring services. Then this year, had our air conditioning (2) units serviced in January. Work performed to our satisfaction. Requested service again for one of the air conditioning units due to warm air filtered in the home after a period of time. The repairman declined the work due to erosion caused by the previous owners dog . The repairman stated Old Republic should contact the repairman that came in January and he would recommend this. Plus, he said no service charge is required. First repairman recognized the erosion but stated it was not significant to cause any problems. Old Republic declined to call the first... Read More

Avoid at all costs. Basically covers nothing. Get this: because the water heater is under warranty (unit, not labor) they won't cover anything. No labor coverage. Many warranties come with 5+ year warranties on the unit and these bozos know that, so they bury that in the fine print. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I think it is ridiculous that I would have to pay you a service charge of $100.00 to look at my ice maker. This is the last time I will have a home warranty, nothing but a rip off from your company. I will be sure to tell all my friend's that are thinking about a home warranty not to go with you. To bad I can't get the $645.00 back!!

I want to get a refund on my current warranty with Old Republic. They are the worse warranty I have ever worked with. They turned me diwn on two claims. My garage door opener broke. They sent out this “repairman” who said a new garage door opener would just break again because of the old garage door. We,, the garage door was new, I had a local repairman come out, gave me a new opener, that was over a month ago. Working perfectly. Don’t buy this company’s product. American home shield tops.

Old Republic is the worse company I have ever had to deal with. We have now been without a refrigerator for almost 2 most going back and forth with me and they still haven’t repaired it. They send out unqualified “independent” contractors that spend 5 minutes diagnosing the problem. I have never seen such unprofessional people in my life. I had to tell them on 2 occasions that I was not going to allow their contractors in my home because of how unprofessional they were. One contractor brought his 10 year old kid with him and another day “Jesus Christ” when he came to our home UNANNOUNCED and our 7 month old puppy started sniffing his leg. I could write a book about the experience we have... Read More
