Overall Rating: 2.2 / 5 (Average)

For 40 years, Old Republic Home Protection has remained among the three largest home warranty companies in the industry, providing comprehensive coverages for homeowners, home buyers, and real estate agents alike. Although their plans offer full protection for most systems and appliances, they can be rather pricey depending on the area of coverage and size of the home. Overall, Old Republic is a reliable option for anyone looking for enhanced protection and round-the-clock claims processing.

Old Republic charges a different trade call fee, ranging from $55 to $100, depending on the state, size, and condition of the home. They have the standard 30-day waiting period before coverage can begin, a 30-day recall period on labor, and mostly restrict customers to their network of contractors, unless they have been previously authorized by the company. Nevertheless, Old Republic does have a 24/7 claims department, which many customers find convenient and isn't offered by all home warranty companies.

Basically ORHP feels it’s ok to charge service fees when no service was provided. I’ve been a customer of three different home warranty companies, and while they are all difficult to do business with, ORHP is hands down the worst and by a far margin. So the long story… I woke on a Saturday morning and was greeted by a broken water heater. I called ORHP who said they would submit a priory request and should hear from someone within a few hours. Sunday rolls around with no contact from anyone. I call the service provider they gave the job to who tells me they can’t do anything on the weekend as they don’t have access to any parts (are they working out of their garage?). He continues to... I am really surprised at all the negative reviews. We bought our house in Feb 2016 and paid for a home warranty policy with ORHP at that time. We purchased the "Ultimate" plan. During the first 4 months we had a couple of claims. On a claim for our AC....suddenly our AC stopped cooling. It was blowing, but just not cooling. Of course the first thing you think of is freon but I called ORHP who contacted a contractor immediately. These people failed to show up. I tried to call but no one answered. I left a message but they did not return my call. I called ORHP back and they told me that I could try to get another service contractor they work with and gave me another number. I... Read More

**Avoid this company at all cost!** We have a ceiling fan in the kitchen with a remote control. It is not working and the contracting company they sent out told me it was the remote control, but Old Republic told me they only cover the fan, not the remote. Are you kidding me? The remote control and the fan are one unit. How can you pick and choose what to cover?!! So I told the customer rep I'd like to cancel my plan and she said she would transfer me to that department. I waited for a little bit and an auto voice came up saying that the cancel department was on the line and then promptly said "Thank you. Good-bye!" It was not even a real person, just a way to avoid to process my... Read More

Had setup appointment for Plumber to come out to look at toilet. When we flush it backs up into the walk-in shower in the bathroom. The plumber tries to clear drain. Walk out to "make a phone" to Old Republic to get authorization to move forward to next step. The Old Republic calls me and informs me what the plumber is going to do next. Old Republic informs me the Plumber cannot clear drain, needs to remove the toilet to clear the line which I am told is not covered by the plan according the Old Republic. The cost to remove the toilet is $125 REALLY? Now the plumber comes back after talking to Old Republic to move forward to remove toilet. NOW the plumber informs me that he does not have... My heating system had been running constantly for several days, I submitted a new request online last night. This morning, received a call and informed that a technician would be calling to arrive this afternoon. He did, fixed the problem! 4 Stars so they don't get overly confident!

I had to have a water heater replaced, they sent out a company that said the water heater was coved but I needed $600 more for different lines and a vent to be replaced I looked up the company on Yelp and they had 1 star with so many complaints it was overwhelming complaints of up charging and shoddy work, I called Old Republic and asked for a different company to do the install and they said no I had to use them or take a check for just the water heater and no installation reimbursement. I asked for the manager and they said take it or leave it. I took the cash and paid a reliable installer and still saved money with him charging for the instillation. You should not have to use a... I have a second home in Houston TX covered by an Old Republic Home Warranty. I experienced a plumbing back up. Old Republic sent two plumbers to resolve the problem. One identified the outside clean out but did not have an auger long enough to reach the blockage. This was a simple issue that should have been easily resolved by Old Republic under my warranty but I was force to use another plumber to fix the issues as I live in Nevada. Old Republic did not honor the terms of their warranty. They are balking at refunding my money although they did not honor the warranty. I have no confidence in Old Republic and would suggest anyone looking for a home warranty not use Old Republic.

I am not sure why everyone is giving Old Republic Home Warranty such bad reviews. I have been using them for 8 years now and could not be more pleased with the service they provide. The contractors have been great as well.

DO NOT USE ONE REPUBLIC HOME WARRANTY!!! They are a complete scam!! We recently purchased a home in Los Angeles and purchased the top plan with One Republic which was to cover everything and replacement if needed. A few months into owning the home our cooktop stopped working. We filed a claim and they sent out a repair technician. We waited all day for the repair guy to show up and he finally came at the end of his 6 or 8 hour window. He was unable to repair the cooktop and said he needed to look for a part otherwise it would be replaced. We paid him $65 (FOR NOTHING) and he said he would be in touch in the next couple of days. A week went by with no call and we began calling One... Read More
