Overall Rating: 2.2 / 5 (Average)

For 40 years, Old Republic Home Protection has remained among the three largest home warranty companies in the industry, providing comprehensive coverages for homeowners, home buyers, and real estate agents alike. Although their plans offer full protection for most systems and appliances, they can be rather pricey depending on the area of coverage and size of the home. Overall, Old Republic is a reliable option for anyone looking for enhanced protection and round-the-clock claims processing.

Old Republic charges a different trade call fee, ranging from $55 to $100, depending on the state, size, and condition of the home. They have the standard 30-day waiting period before coverage can begin, a 30-day recall period on labor, and mostly restrict customers to their network of contractors, unless they have been previously authorized by the company. Nevertheless, Old Republic does have a 24/7 claims department, which many customers find convenient and isn't offered by all home warranty companies.

I've used the services of Old Republic for 2+ years now. During this time, I've contacted them on several occasions for their services on rather small issues that were resolved promptly. However, I've questioned some of the most recent technicians qualifications to address and resolve my issues. The concerns I have seem to be plumbers that Old Republic sent to my home to address my issues. In my opinion, the technicians sent to address my issues, qualified or not qualified, is a refection of Old Republic! Good and/or bad. Plumber #1: A slab leak was detected. I called Old Republic, a plumber was sent to my home to locate and resolve. The plumber informed me he located the leak... Read More

Our A/C stopped working in the beginning of July and we had insurance from Old Republic. I was expecting them to find a solution within a few days, however it has been almost a month and it is still not fixed. They cannot find required part and they dont want to replace it. I dont know how longer they are going to search for this part but it is August in Houston where you cannot survive without A/C. Terrible customer service, I am so disappointed and doesnt recommend them to anybody.

Always happy with service in pass, however things have changed. Request for microwave placed June 2020 nearing end of July no repair or replacement calls for update take over an hour and response is waiting for an answer from authorization. Hmmmm wonder where authorization is coming from White House?

Do not waste your money with the Old Republic. They are quick to take your money but when you need to file a claim you will feel like you're on trail as they interrogate you and twist your words looking for any excuse deny your claim.

I would NOT recommend Old Republic if you're looking for a good customer experience. 1) They implement a new customer penalty for the first 30 days you can not self service online (like we do in 2020 not 1980). 2) When you do call you wait on hold for 30 days only to be told the status of a claim in their system is different than shows online. 3) If you want to actually talk to someone other than a front line call center agent all they can say is they will take your feedback and pass it along, you can not actually talk to someone who can explain "why".

Called today to have service on my Refrigerator and since I have Platinum coverage, thought I would be covered. Unfortunately NO, its an add on to the plan. Never in my wildest dreams did I think a refrigerator would be an add on coverage. I wont renew, and buyers beware.

When they come out to do a job if there is some parts that are not covered under the warranty they tell you the $75 trade call fee is included in your out-of-pocket cost. Then later on you get billed $75 from OLD REPUBLIC and deny that it was included initially. What a rip off company. I have more than one property and will be canceling OLD REPUBLIC on all of them.

This company gives insurance companies a bad name. In 2018 we purchased a home built in 1996 And received an Old Republic warranty with max coverage offered. Because the warranty was a “gift” from the well compensated realtor we had no knowledge concerning what information was communicated to Old Republic, if any. During the first year Old Republic replaced a sink top hot water dispenser and we had no other claims. We renewed the contract for the second year and the company paid to fix a blower fan in an outside AC unit. Subsequently, two of four burners on a Thermidor cooktop failed to ignite and we were told that the valve part necessary to repair it was no longer available. The... Read More

We had this policy when we purchased our home almost a year ago and it was the platinum policy they have continued to send out a service man that did nothing but run up our bills and we had to do re calls on everything he supposedly repaired our refrigerator went out during the Covid 19 pandemic and I have cancer and my medication is kept in the refrigerator instead of ordering us a new one they ordered parts which took over 3 weeks so we lost $1,000 worth of food and were left using a little refrigerator for 3 weeks then the freezer went out that they had already sent someone out twice before meaning we lost all the food in the freezer 3 times ($3,000) plus the $100 x2 service calls so...
