Overall Rating: 2.2 / 5 (Average)

For 40 years, Old Republic Home Protection has remained among the three largest home warranty companies in the industry, providing comprehensive coverages for homeowners, home buyers, and real estate agents alike. Although their plans offer full protection for most systems and appliances, they can be rather pricey depending on the area of coverage and size of the home. Overall, Old Republic is a reliable option for anyone looking for enhanced protection and round-the-clock claims processing.

Old Republic charges a different trade call fee, ranging from $55 to $100, depending on the state, size, and condition of the home. They have the standard 30-day waiting period before coverage can begin, a 30-day recall period on labor, and mostly restrict customers to their network of contractors, unless they have been previously authorized by the company. Nevertheless, Old Republic does have a 24/7 claims department, which many customers find convenient and isn't offered by all home warranty companies.

Old Republic is a scam. STAY AWAY. Zero coverage and a million excuses. Zero peace of mind on your new home I Bought a 2 year old house that should have nothing wrong with it. Old Republic was referred by my realtor and I trusted the referral because there are so many things to look into when you're buying a house - a 'HOME WARRANTY' company and their lack of coverage should not be something you have to question. "Home Warranty" is supposed to give you peace of mind that if something unforeseen happens, you're not left holding the wet towel (literally in my case). The second day after moving in, my kitchen flooded after using the master bathroom tub. I called Old Republic around 8pm... Read More

I was very dissatisfied with a recent claim and there was no opportunity to discuss it.

For the past two years I had been perfectly happy with ORHP, no issues, great price point, and had all repair requests approved and handled promptly. However, I can no longer leave a good review. During renewal, I learned how outdated and inflexible they are as a company. Two years ago, my Realtor signed me up for the first year free as a perk of buying a new home. I had no control over the plan I was given. Upon renewal a year later, I removed the refrigerator coverage which cost $75 as I knew I would be getting a new one that would come with 1-year warranty. When it came time for my 3rd renewal this past February, I tried to add the refrigerator back on and was told once something is... Read More

Still no heat and hot water after 2 1/2 weeks and it is winter here in northern VA. Work incompetent cost 425.00 of us to get another company in to give us a prognosis. You can only use their workers. We are looking for them to arrive again.

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Old Republic's service. Renewed my policy online for the 3rd year in a row and continued my Ultimate coverage plus AC. My original policy when I purchased the home included roof repair coverage. Upon renewing, I was never given an option to add or remove the roof coverage, so I assumed it was included. Come rainy season, my roof has a leak. "No problem," I think to myself, "my home warranty will cover it!" Oh how wrong I was. See, their online system is buggy, meaning it NEVER gave me the option to either select or deselect coverage for roof repairs. It made it seem as if it was rolled into my Ultimate protection. NOPE. They... Read More

Your company is terrible. Not only did you send out 3 different repair companies that were not equipped to handle to issue, but after $10,000 in plumbing bills, you only reimbursed us for $775, and then had the audacity to send ME a BILL for $75 to cover the service call. Tell me then, what was the other $225 withehld for, if not the service call? Worst company I've ever dealt with.

Be adware of their policies as they say you are covered for appliances but not Washer and Dryers or Fridges. They do not give you the options to buy these to cover but they make it look like you did when you sign up. So you can sign up for coverage when you buy the policy but when you renew it they take the option out so you can not select it. Very shady company, they must have some deal with shady realtors to recommend them

i called them for my pool cleaner stops working and they send a tech from Pool Crew LLC, tech said somethings wrong with the pool cleaner since its not covered, so i have it check or fix in Leslie. Leslie charge me about $100 and still its not working, bring it back to Leslie and charge again about $50 but still it doesnt work...until a friend of ours who knows about pool said...your pool cleaner is working great...only your pool cleaner motor pump is the issue..it wont give enough pressure to run your pool cleaner..now i realized because the pool motor pump is cover the tech blame it to the pool cleaner...wow they just dont want to replace a new motor because the pool cleaner is not... This company covers nothing. We bought a new home last year. Our realty company picked Old Republic, we did not. It was the first and last time they were going to use this company. They have been a nightmare. The day after we picked up our keys, the water heater began leaking. Old Republic refused to even send out a technician because according to their company, this was pre- existing, even though this was not discovered with 2 home inspections. We had the water heater installed and was told this was normal wear. Old Republic didn't care. We had a water leak in an upstairs bathroom which caused the ceiling in our disabled sons bedroom, to come down. Old Republic fixed the leak but said the... Read More

Not happy with the service at all. It seems like every time we turn around the out of pocket prices change, it has been 2 weeks trying to get an evaporator coil job completed. Still no AC. I could have had this done in 1 day had I used a regular vendor and paid the same amount of money. Call the number, sit on hold, get a lady who knows nothing about the job.....very frustrating.
