Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits.

They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

BUYER BEWARE! We bought the platinum coverage policy when we closed on a home purchase and 4 months later our air conditioning stopped working. We live in Phoenix, AZ so not having a/c is a real problem. We called the warranty company and they had someone out the next morning. We were told it was going to cost $1600.00 to fix it. We asked would it be covered and were told they submit the paperwork to the warranty company and it takes 3-4 days to get their approval or denial. We called the warranty company, had them look up our policy and asked if this would be covered through them. We were told they couldn't discuss it with us until the claim had been turned in. We told Select Home... Read More

I'll describe, briefly, my four claims with a great 3 year policy for 1200.00: 1. Built in microwave broke, which was installed in 2006. I was told it no longer is made in 2016. Therefore they gave me 95.00. It cost me 525.00 for the same new model to be replaced and installed in the cabinetry. 2. Light in garage door opener not working. I was told although the garage door opener is covered, the light is not. I got my own technician, who replaced the circuit board, which was covered. They reimbursed me about half the bill. 3. Leak in upstairs toilet. Their plumber stated I would need the ceiling below opened and the entire bathroom ripped up for about 4000.00 to repair. My contractor... Read More

I believe this site may not be reliable. Select Home Warranty is a Criminal Enterprise and not legitimate company. If you read Yelp or other reviews they have only 1 star because they never pay for any claims. We have had 4 claims and all have been denied. The company steals money from people all across the U.S. After discussions with an attorney I find you cannot sue them! A really nice class action case would do them good. The only recourse is arbitration in New Jersey of all places.( home of the bridge closing thieves) The company also employs web services companies to fake their reviews and dilute real reviews.

I had this policy for over four months I had a problem with the water heater and I filed a claim, after two days no one called me back so I called to check on my claim and they said it was denied and for me to get a local contractor and fix it and send the bill to them and they will decide if they will pay it,this company is a scam please save your money and time.

Select home warranty has been major disappointment from the get go. We bought Select at the closing of our home. Went to file a claim 2 months later and they said they never received the payment from the title company so we did not have coverage. Title company assured us it was sent but would overnight a new payment that same day. We had to pay for the repair since we were not within 30 days . Now we have a new claim for a refridgerator and they said you are covered but were too busy to send anyone to repair. You can repair yourself and upon approval we will reimburse . Not trusting this company we said no and would prefer they send someone to fix it. After 4-5 phone calls because we never... Read More

I left HSA for Select Home Warranty. Big mistake! My A/C went out. I had a technician come out and tell me that all my freon had leaked out. He was not able to find the leak and recommended a replacement unit. Select Home Warranty told me that freon leaks were not covered, so f*ck off. My wife and I had to pay $1800 out of pocket for the service call and freon, plus the stop leak for the unit. Don't bother with this company, you will lose. I will be going back to HSA.

It is just a scam to get your money, I have them and had an A/C unit go bad, after a month they want to see the records of what all I had done to it since it was new.....I had a fan replaced 2 years ago so they told me in the fine print it was written that due to it having been serviced before it wasn't covered, they offered $150.00 to get it fixed on a $1400.00 bill and now they haven't sent that either. How do you spell SCAM........Select Home Warranty

• Please think twice before you deal with this company. As a policy owner completely dissatisfied with the lack of service and fine print that the average person doesn’t have time to study. Monday morning I put in a claim regarding my AC and was told that a local contractor will reach out to me. Wednesday rolls around and my family and I are still suffering the Texas heat with no word from a tech so I decided to call and sift through my email. I found a spam email from select home warranty telling me I have to call the tech and schedule an appointment. Being the level headed person that I am I took partial blame for overlooking the email and not being informed on how this company processes... Read More
