If I could give them a worse review I would. AHS will fight to not pay for anything they can even if it is clearly stated in the coverage. DO NOT trust this high rating. If you do go with them, expect to pay legal fees to take them to court for breaching contract when you need them pay cover anything.
I have been an AHS customer going on 2 years and for almost the entire time they fail to process my credit card correctly every month.
I have to call them and be put on hold for a half hour or longer.
They have the wrong expiration date for my credit card.
I have called to correct this error 7 times, and the next month it happens all over again.
They just can't seem to correct this simple task, no matter who I talk to there!!!
I'm about ready to tell them to stuff it the next time it happens, and take my business somewhere else.
The WORST experience - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Their service is designed to avoid paying you. I lost a day of my life, without heat or electricity for my family for 24 hours because of AHS incompetence. And now they're making it impossible for me to collect payment for the service fee. I arrived at a vacation home in snow country on a Friday afternoon to find the power off. I waited on hold for 20+ minutes to report the problem, only to have my call dropped by the agent. I was finally able to report the problem online & received an electrician assignment. To anyone considering using this company BEWARE!!! Make sure you know what your out of pocket expense will be for any repair or replacement. Case in point, I am in the process of getting my water heater replaced. In addition to the $75 service fee, and the annual premium, I will out an additional $600 because of upgrades, modifications etc... This is not spelled out in the contract, and when pressed they will tell you they can not estimate these costs beforehand. Additionally their customer service is very difficult to reach and I have been on hold for about 2.5 hours just today. Stay away from AHS!!! I have been a customer for years & am switching companies!! The last few years prices keep going up, & service has been HORRIBLE. It takes WEEKS to get a problem addressed, they will do hap-hazard horrible repairs when something is 30 yrs old & should be REPLACED.They NEVER answer the phone. Customer NO SERVICE is their motto!!
My first experience was great. My hot water heater was leaking and I called AHS. Within a couple of days a service person showed up, evaluated the situation and said he would be back. Took another two days but he did come back and replaced my unit and did a very nice job. Only complaint was that he drained the hot water from the tank onto my lawn and killed about a 4 foot circle of the grass which I had to replant. My next experience was not as good. I have a well that supplies water to my home. I was have problems maintaing pressure. Here is where I went wrong. I bought the premium policy but thought it only covered the home. STAY AWAY from this company, buy warranty elsewhere. We had American Home Shield for years, spend lots of money with them. Then years later, we moved and got a new contract for our 15 year old home in Colorado. In October 2018 we had a home inspector checking all appliances, HVAC and furnace prior to our purchase. Everything passed, and seemed to be in good working condition. Since the house have used appliances we decided to get them protect by American Home Shield. Well months later, winter came and we needed to use the furnace, then we noticed it was having a hard time keeping the house warm. this is the worth company to deal with. there are no service at all, it takes you hours to get in touch with someone and most of the services are not performed. we leave in the condo and was not able to get ANY services because condo association requires license and insurance information for contractors and the info is NEVER provided. On top of not getting any services, i was charged for the house calls that was never done!!! DOES NOT GET ANY WORTH THAN THIS COMPANY
HORRIBLE customer service. Today a lady hung up in my face after asking to speak with her supervisor.

several months ago my hot water heater went out and was leaking...called in ...no one available for over two days..when finally got them out it ended up costing me over 800.00
All the explanations never made sense to me ... what is worse I had gotten some one out on my own and their quote was 850.00... have been a customer for years and that is not the first problem i’ve had...kept them because I have an older home and figure some help is better than none!!
